Rams' Blake Grupe: Tears ACL, out for season
Rams head coach Sean McVay announced Monday that Grupe will miss the remainder of the season after sustaining a torn ACL in Sunday's 18-16 loss to the Cardinals, Greg Beacham of the Associated Press reports.
Los Angeles placed Grupe on injured reserve earlier Monday and will likely work out multiple kickers over the next few days before deciding on a new option prior to Sunday's game against the Raiders. Signed off the Jets' practice squad last week, Grupe converted a 44-yard field goal in the first quarter of Sunday's contest before sustaining the season-ending injury while attempting to make a tackle on the ensuing kickoff return.

Rams' Blake Grupe: Heads to IR after Week 6 exit
The Rams placed Grupe (knee) on injured reserve Monday.
Los Angeles deactivated Grupe just one day after he was forced out of his team debut in an 18-16 loss to the Cardinals after suffering a knee injury while attempting to make a tackle on a kickoff return. Grupe, who connected on his lone kick -- a 44-yard field goal -- before departing Sunday's contest, will now be sidelined through at least Week 11 after landing on IR. The Rams will need to break in their third kicker of the season during next Sunday's game against the Raiders.

Rams' Blake Grupe: Taking over as Rams kicker
The Rams signed Grupe off the Jets' practice squad Tuesday, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Los Angeles will bring Grupe aboard as its new kicker in place of Harrison Mevis, who was cut after going 0-for-2 on field-goal attempts in Monday's 37-34 overtime loss to the Bills and missing four kicks overall through the first five games of the season. Though he was unable to win the Jets' kicking job coming out of the preseason, Grupe has been a serviceable performer over parts of three NFL campaigns. For his career, Grupe has connected on 86 of 105 field-goal attempts (81.9 percent) and 96 of 98 extra-point tries (98 percent).

The 27-year-old was originally set to be the team's starting kicker entering Week 1, but after three consecutive weeks of remaining inactive behind Jason Sanders, Grupe was cut by the Jets on Tuesday. Grupe appeared poised to open the season as the Jets' kicker after he was scooped up off waivers from the Colts on Aug. 31, but he ended up being inactive for New York's first three games after Jason Sanders was elevated from the practice squad to handle kicking duties for each of those contests. The Jets have now opted to commit to Sanders as their kicker, signing him to the 53-man roster while parting ways with Grupe. Between stops with the Saints and Colts in 2025, Grupe converted on 29 of 37 field-goal attempts -- including seven of 10 from 50-plus yards -- while drilling all 25 of his extra-point tries. He may not have to wait long before finding an opportunity elsewhere.

Jets head coach Aaron Glenn said that Jason Sanders will be elevated from the practice squad for Week 1 and will handle kicking duties over Grupe in Sunday's season opener versus the Titans, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
After releasing Sanders at the end of the preseason and then claiming Grupe off waivers from the Colts on Aug. 31, Grupe appeared on track to open the regular season as the Jets' kicker. However, the Jets retained Sanders as a member of their practice squad and will use one of his elevations to have him kick for the club in Week 1. How Sanders performs against the Titans could determine whether he or Grupe handles the kicking job heading into a Week 2 matchup with the Packers. As a member of the Saints and Colts last season, Grupe converted 29 of 37 field-goal attempts (78.4 percent) over 16 games.
