Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Impressive with seven carries
Gordon rushed seven times for 39 yards and didn't bring in his only target in the Dolphins' 20-7 preseason loss to the Commanders on Friday.
Gordon began seeing touches alongside Jaylen Wright during the Dolphins' second possession. The second-year back averaged just 2.8 yards per carry as a rookie in 2025, and Gordon looked particularly impressive Friday while recording nine- and 12-yard runs. He'll continue his battle for the No. 2 running back job with Wright behind De'Von Achane in Miami's second preseason game on Saturday, Aug. 22 at home against the Giants.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Competing for backup role
Gordon and Jaylen Wright are in line to compete for backup slotting behind De'Von Achane in training camp, Mike Masala of USA Today reports.
Achane is the Dolphins' clear-cut top back, which limits the fantasy lineup utility of his backups as long as he's available. However, if Achane misses time this season for any reason, there's streaming value to be had with the player who's next in line for carries. During the 2025 regular season, Gordon and Wright each logged 70 carries, though Wright (who averaged 4.1 yards per carry) did so in 10 contests while Gordon (2.8 yards per carry) was available for Miami's full slate.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Inefficient in season finale
Gordon carried the ball nine times for nine yards during Sunday's 38-10 loss to the Patriots. He also secured his only target for two yards.
Gordon was only slightly less efficient than lead ballcarrier Jaylen Wright (13 carries for 23 yards), as the Dolphins were unable to do anything of note on the ground with De'Von Achane (shoulder) sidelined Week 18. A rookie sixth-round pick, Gordon impressed during the preseason for Miami and kicked off the regular season in the No. 2 role behind Achane, but over the course of the year he fell to the No. 3 spot. Across 17 regular-season appearances, Gordon compiled 70 carries for 199 yards (2.8 YPC) and three scores, while also securing seven of nine targets for 32 yards and a touchdown. He figures to spend the offseason competing with Wright for depth opportunities behind Achane.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: No touches on offense
Gordon did not log a carry or target during Miami's 20-17 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Gordon has now operated in a clear depth role behind De'Von Achane and Jaylen Wright in three consecutive games, in which span he's combined for minus-1 rushing yards on three carries. The rookie sixth-round pick played a career-high 15 snaps on special teams versus Tampa Bay, during which he also logged one assisted tackle. Gordon stands to operate as the Dolphins' third-string running back again during the team's regular-season finale on the road against New England in Week 18.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Only one carry in Week 16 loss
Gordon carried the ball once for one yard during Sunday's 45-21 loss to the Bengals.
Gordon operated as the clear No. 3 man out of the backfield for Miami, while De'Von Achane rushed 15 times for 81 yards and a touchdown and Jaylen Wright logged nine carries for 35 yards and a score. The rookie sixth-round pick has definitively been overtaken by Wright as the top backup to Achane, so he can be expected to remain in the third-string role as the Dolphins close out the 2025 campaign versus Tampa Bay in Week 17 and against the Patriots in Week 18.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Practices in full Wednesday
Gordon (ankle) was a full participant in Wednesday's walkthrough, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Gordon sustained an ankle injury midway through the second quarter of Monday's loss to the Steelers. His full practice Wednesday indicates that the injury isn't a concern for the rookie sixth-rounder, which puts him on track to play Sunday against the Bengals. Gordon has turned 60 carries into 191 yards and three touchdowns and six catches (one eight targets) for 30 yards and one score through 14 regular-season games.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Suffers ankle injury
Gordon is questionable to return to Monday's game against the Steelers after suffering an ankle injury in the second quarter.
Gordon was hurt on his second carry of the game as he was hit hard in the backfield. He managed to limp off the field with the help of trainers, though there aren't further details at this time.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Backs up Wright after Achane injury
Gordon rushed five times for 17 yards and a touchdown but wasn't targeted in Sunday's 34-10 win over the Jets.
Jaylen Wright (24 carries for 107 yards and a touchdown) was the primary beneficiary of De'Von Achane's (ribs) second-quarter exit, but Gordon contributed a seven-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. More opportunities could be available for both Wright and Gordon if Achane's sidelined or limited against the Steelers in Week 15. Gordon has scored a rushing touchdown in two of his last three games, but the rookie sixth-round pick hasn't exceeded 46 rushing yards in any game.

Dolphins' Ollie Gordon: Works alongside Wright
Gordon rushed three times for 10 yards during Sunday's 21-17 win over the Saints.
Gordon logged the same number of carries as fellow reserve running back Jaylen Wright, who managed 16 yards on the ground. Both remain in clear reserve roles behind starter De'Von Achane, who had 22 carries for a whopping 134 yards and one score, but Gordon may be facing actual competition for Wright as the clear No. 2 back in Miami heading into a Week 14 divisional matchup against the Jets.
