  • Falcons' Ross Dwelley: No targets in Week 15

Dwelley went without a target while playing nine of the Falcons' 74 snaps on offense in Sunday's 42-21 loss to the Vikings.

Dwelley has suited up for all 13 of the Falcons' games this season but has consistently played behind Kyle Pitts and Charlie Woerner as the team's No. 3 tight end. The 29-year-old has notched just one reception on the campaign, which came back in Week 11 in Denver.

  • Falcons' Ross Dwelley: Not seeing much time on offense

Dwelley logged eight of the Falcons' 73 snaps on offense in Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Seahawks.

Dwelley and fellow backup tight end Charlie Woerner (11 snaps) saw limited playing time behind starter Kyle Pitts (55 snaps), a trend that's likely to persist moving forward, especially when the Falcons fall into a negative game script. Though he should continue to suit up on most game days due to his blocking skills and ability to contribute on special teams, Dwelley is unlikely to draw many looks in the passing game from quarterback Kirk Cousins. Dwelley has yet to earn a target through Atlanta's first seven contests.

  • Falcons' Ross Dwelley: Expected to be block-first TE

Dwelley made the Falcons' initial 53-man roster Tuesday, Terrin Waack of the Falcons' official site reports.

Dwelley and Charlie Woerner signed similar contracts this offseason and will start the campaign as backups to Kyle Pitts. Dwelley played sparingly on offense in San Francisco, but he's a stout blocker and will be involved in Atlanta's running game, per Josh Kendall of The Athletic.

  • Falcons' Ross Dwelley: Finds new home in Atlanta

The Falcons signed Dwelley (ankle) on Monday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Dwelley finished last season on injured reserve after sustaining an ankle injury, but it now seems as if he's moved past the issue. After spending the first six seasons of his NFL career with the 49ers, the 29-year-old tight end has agreed to terms with the Falcons. Across his last three seasons, Dwelley has appeared in 41 games and made two starts, catching eight of his 12 targets for 168 yards and two touchdowns. Despite his underwhelming offensive production, the San Diego product has been a consistent contributor on special teams (619 snaps over the last three years), and he's expected to compete for a similar role in Atlanta.

  • 49ers' Ross Dwelley: Lands on IR

The 49ers placed Dwelley (ankle) to the injured reserve Saturday.

Dwelley sustained a high-ankle sprain in Week 13 against the Eagles. He hasn't managed to suit up since, and with his placement on IR, his season is officially over since the 49ers have a max of four games left. Dwelley had one catch on two targets for 12 yards over 12 games this season, operating mostly as a pass-blocking tight end and special-teams player.

Dwelley (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Rams, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

  • 49ers' Ross Dwelley: Out again

Dwelley (ankle) will not play in Sunday's matchup with the Commanders.

Dwelley's absence will mark his fourth straight due to an ankle injury. As a result, Charlie Woerner and Brayden Willis figure to continue as depth tight end options behind George Kittle. Dwelley's next chance to suit up will come in the 49ers' regular-season finale versus the Rams.

  • 49ers' Ross Dwelley: Misses another practice

Dwelley (ankle) did not practice Friday, Eric Branch of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Dwelley has missed San Francisco's past two games due to an ankle injury, and his chance of playing Monday against Baltimore isn't strong given that he has sat out the team's first two practices this week. In fact, the veteran tight end hasn't been able to practice at all since getting hurt Week 13 versus Philadelphia. Brayden Willis could continue to see a handful of snaps on offense Monday if Dwelley is sidelined again.

  • 49ers' Ross Dwelley: Missing another game

Dwelley (ankle) won't play in Sunday's game against the Cardinals, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

Dwelley is dealing with a high-ankle sprain, and he wasn't able to practice at all this week. He also missed last Sunday's win over the Seahawks, giving Brayden Willis the chance to see his first action since Week 4. Dwelley's Week 15 absence won't set off many alarms in fantasy circles, as he's made just one catch (on two targets) over 12 games this season.

  • 49ers' Ross Dwelley: Won't play Sunday

Dwelley (ankle) has been ruled out ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks, Matt Barrows of The Athletic reports.

Dwelley sustained a right high-ankle sprain in the 49ers' Week 13 win over the Eagles. He was unable to participate in practice all week and is set to miss his first game of the year. In Dwelley's absence, Brayden Willis is set to step into the No. 3 tight end role behind George Kittle and Charlie Woerner.
