Ross Dwelley: Signs with Carolina
The Panthers signed Dwelley to the practice squad Tuesday.
Dwelley appeared in 11 games with the Lions this season before being cut earlier this month. Across those 11 appearances, Dwelley caught two of five targets for seven yards. He gives Carolina depth at tight end after Ja'Tavion Sanders suffered a season-ending broken ankle in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks.

Ross Dwelley: Waived by Detroit
The Lions waived Dwelley on Tuesday.
Dwelley played in 11 games this season, totaling two receptions for seven yards on five targets. The tight end will now be placed on waivers and, if he clears, will likely re-sign with the Lions' practice squad. The move likely was made to make space for new cornerback Arthur Maulet, however, the IR presence of Sam LaPorta (back), Brock Wright (neck) and Shane Zylstra (knee) means that if Dwelley can sign to the practice squad, he will likely be elevated for a future Lions game.

Lions' Ross Dwelley: One catch in victory
Dwelley caught his only target for four yards in Thursday night's 44-30 win over Dallas.
Dwelley was limited to just one catch for the second week in a row while operating as the team's starting tight end with both Sam LaPorta (back) and Brock Wright (neck) on injured reserve. Dwelley doesn't present as an appealing fantasy option moving forward outside of the deepest formats.

Lions' Ross Dwelley: One catch in start
Dwelley caught one of three targets for three yards in Thursday's 31-24 loss to the Packers.
Dwelley was thrust into a starting role with Brock Wright (neck) sidelined in Week 13, but the tight end was ultimately an afterthought on offense. Dwelley finished fourth on the team in targets, but his three receiving yards ranked seventh for Detroit. The Lions will square off with the Cowboys on Thursday Night Football in Week 14, and it's possible that Dwelley garners another start if Wright remains unavailable.

Lions' Ross Dwelley: Still without target in 2025
Dwelley went without a target while playing six of the Lions' 68 snaps on offense in Monday's 24-9 win over the Buccaneers.
Dwelley has now logged single-digit snaps in all but one of his five appearances this season and will continue to see limited playing time at tight end while Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright are both healthy. The 30-year-old has yet to draw a target and will likely be deployed mainly as a blocker on the rare occasions he takes the field.

Lions' Ross Dwelley: Inked to Detroit's active roster
The Lions signed Dwelley from the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday, Benjamin Raven of MLive Media Group reports.
Dwelley signed with the Lions' practice squad Sept. 16 after the Lions placed fellow tight end Shane Zylstra (ankle) on injured reserve. Dwelley was elevated for the Lions' Week 3 win over the Ravens on Monday, when he played 16 snaps (12 on special teams, four on offense) without otherwise appearing on the box score. Now that he's on the active roster, Dwelley will continue to serve on special teams while operating as the Lions' No. 3 tight end behind Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright.

Lions' Ross Dwelley: Elevated for MNF
The Lions elevated Dwelley from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Monday's game against the Ravens.
Dwelley was let go by the 49ers during training camp in mid-August, but he caught on with the Lions this past Tuesday on the practice squad following the placement of Shane Zylstra (ankle) on injured reserve. Dwelley will be elevated for Monday night's contest and will serve as the Lions' TE3 behind Sam LaPorta and Brock Wright.
