Colts' Jonathan Owens: Signs with Indy
The Colts signed Owens to a one-year contract Friday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Owens appeared in all 17 regular-season games for the Bears last season but played a total of just 47 defensive snaps and 264 snaps on special teams. Look for Owens to fill a similar role in Indianapolis.

Bears' Jonathan Owens: Excels in second half of season
Owens recorded five tackles (three solo) and recovered a fumble in the Bears' 24-22 win over the Packers on Sunday.
Owens was a non-factor through Week 11, when he had a total of three tackles. The safety moved into a regular role when teammate Elijah Hicks was injured. Once Hicks returned, Owens retained the starting job. In the last eight games, the veteran posted 46 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble. Owens is signed through 2025, and assuming he holds onto the starting role, he'll be a high-floor IDP.

Bears' Jonathan Owens: Ties for team lead in stops
Owens tallied eight stops in the Bears' 34-17 loss to the Lions on Sunday.
Owens had been subbing in for teammate Elijah Hicks, who was inactive in Weeks 12 to 14. However, since Hicks returned in Week 15, Owens has remained in the lead role at strong safety. In each of the last five games, Owens has posted between six and eight tackles. As long as Owens hangs on to the starting job, he'll remain a high-floor IDP.

Bears' Jonathan Owens: Picks off first pass of season
Owens tallied seven stops and an interception in the Bears' 38-13 loss to the 49ers on Sunday.
Owens has now recorded seven or eight tackles in each of the three games in which the veteran has taken over for the injured Elijah Hicks (ankle). As long as Owens is needed in the starting lineup, he'll remain a plug-and-play IDP option.

Bears' Jonathan Owens: Taking advantage of opportunity
Owens posted eight tackles (two solo) and one pass defensed in the Bears' 23-20 loss to the Lions on Thursday.
Owens barely saw the field through Week 11, but the veteran moved into a full-time role over the last two games while Elijah Hicks (ankle) missed time. The safety now has back-to-back games with eight tackles. If Hicks continues to miss time, Owens would remain an excellent IDP streamer.

Bears' Jonathan Owens: Could be rotational player
Owens is likely to be Chicago's second-string free safety behind Kevin Byard after both players were signed to a contract in March.
After the Bears signed Byard to a two-year, $15 million contract, it seems likely that Owens will back up Byard at free safety. Should Owens move into a regular role at some point, he could have significant IDP value after averaging 105 tackles over the past two seasons.
