  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Goes for 143 yards on 27 touches

Brown carried the ball 22 times for 86 yards while catching five of seven targets for 57 yards in Sunday's 34-27 loss to the Chargers. Brown continues to be the bell cow for Cincinnati's backfield, surrendering no carries to fellow running backs while producing 143 yards on 27 total touches. The sophomore out of Illinois failed to extend a modest three-game touchdown streak, but it's hard to scoff at this kind of production from a player that was likely snagged off the wire early in the fantasy season. Brown will enter Cincinnati's bye week with 957 yards from scrimmage and seven total touchdowns in as many games played (12) as his rookie season.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: RBs to Start

Brown doesn't have an easy matchup in Week 11 at the Chargers, who are No. 3 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, but I don't care. You're starting Brown in all leagues based on what he's done the past two games. He scored at least 22.4 PPR points in each of his past two outings against the Raiders and Ravens, and I love that he has 14 catches for 89 yards and a touchdown over that span on 16 targets. Brown has top-10 upside in Week 11.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Logs 22 touches in loss

Brown rushed 13 times for 42 yards and a touchdown and secured nine of 11 targets for 52 yards in the Bengals' 35-34 loss to the Ravens on Thursday night. He also lost a fumble. Brown once again filled the lead-back role and was the only Bengals running back to record a rush attempt, but he was nearly as involved as a receiver due to game script. The second-year back finished second in receptions, receiving yards and targets behind Ja'Marr Chase, and he was able to post his fifth rushing touchdown of the season on a one-yard run to cap off the opening possession of the game. Brown will eventually begin sharing touches with the recently acquired Khalil Herbert, but he should continue to pace the ground game in a Week 11 road tilt against the Chargers on Sunday night, Nov. 17.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: RBs to Start

Brown came through in a big way in Week 9 as the Start of the Week when he had a season-best 26.7 PPR points against the Raiders. He had 27 carries for 120 yards, five catches for 37 yards, and a touchdown on five targets. I hope he maintains his role in the passing game even with the Bengals adding Khalil Herbert via trade from the Bears on Tuesday and Zack Moss (neck) is now on injured reserve. Brown faced the Ravens in Week 5 and had 12 carries for 46 yards, three catches for 8 yards, and a touchdown on three targets. It's a tough matchup since Baltimore is No. 8 in fewest Fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs, but three running backs have scored at least 14.4 PPR points against the Ravens in the past five games. I'm trusting Brown as a No. 2 running back in all leagues.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Gets new backfield complement

Brown will have a new backup for Week 10 after Cincinnati acquired Khalil Herbert from Chicago on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Through the Bengals' first eight games of the season, Brown had been working in a timeshare with Zack Moss. Brown dominated the backfield in a Week 9 win over the Raiders after Moss was ruled out for the contest due to a neck injury, playing 79 percent of the snaps and amassing a career-high 120 yards on the ground while taking on all of the running-back usage (27 carries, five receptions). Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reported Tuesday that Moss is slated to miss at least the rest of the regular season, but the addition of Herbert -- who has averaged 4.8 yards per carry over 48 career games -- provides more formidable competition for supplementary work behind Brown than Trayveon Williams or Kendall Milton. With Herbert in the fold, Brown shouldn't be expected to handle 100 percent of the backfield usage as he did in Week 9, but the second-year back should still see a sizable three-down role.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Bruised rib in win over Las Vegas

Coach Zac Taylor said Monday that Brown suffered a bruised rib in Sunday's win over the Raiders, Cameron Wolfe of NFL Network reports. Brown briefly exited Sunday's win but quickly returned and went on to set career highs in carries (27), rushing yards (120) and receptions (five), totaling 157 yards and one touchdown on his 32 touches. Meanwhile, Trayveon Williams didn't handle a single carry or target as the backup. With Zack Moss (neck) now out indefinitely, according to Taylor via Adam Schefter of ESPN, Brown looks like a locked-in every-down back moving forward, assuming his rib injury isn't serious. The Bengals have a quick Week 10 turnaround with a road game against the division-rival Ravens on tap for Thursday night.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Three-down role likely awaits

Brown is expected to take on the majority of the snaps out of the Cincinnati backfield in Sunday's game against the Raiders with Zack Moss (neck) inactive for the contest, Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic reports. Brown had already played 48 percent of the snaps or more in each of the last three games while outproducing Moss and seemingly emerging as Option 1A in Cincinnati's backfield timeshare, but the absence of Moss for Week 9 should pave the way for Brown to see his most significant playing time to date. Cincinnati's other active running backs include special-teams standout Trayveon Williams and practice-squad call-up Kendall Milton, neither of whom have logged a snap on offense in 2024. Expect the backups to be sprinkled in lightly while Brown likely handles a three-down role, at least for as long as Sunday's contest stays competitive.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Added touches likely with Moss hurt

Brown is likely to see the lion's share of touches in the Bengals backfield Sunday against the Raiders, as Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports that Zack Moss (neck) is listed as doubtful for that contest. Brown stands to benefit from Moss's surprise addition to the injury report Friday. While Moss has been on hand to split backfield duties, Brown has played more than half of Cincinnati's offensive snaps only twice this season, and Brown was on the field for 48 percent of snaps Week 8 against the Eagles compared to Moss's 52 percent. If the Bengals continue to distrust Brown's pass protection, that could create an opportunity for Trayveon Williams to play a meaningful role against the Raiders as well.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Suiting up Sunday

Brown (quadricep) is listed as active for Sunday's game at the Giants, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Though coach Zac Taylor noted Friday that Brown would be good to go for the contest, the running back was ultimately deemed questionable ahead of Week 6 action after logging his second straight limited practice. While Brown's availability versus New York didn't really appear in danger, his official injury report listing nonetheless made his status worth confirming. Now that he's been made active, Brown is in a position to continue to share backfield duties with Zack Moss. With that arrangement in play, during Cincinnati's first five contests this season, Brown has carried 41 times for 230 yards and two TDs and added 10 catches for 39 yards and another score, while Moss has recorded 57 carries for 211 yards and two touchdowns and caught 15 passes for 124 yards and a TD.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Should play Sunday night

Brown (quadricep), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's contest against the Giants, is expected to play, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports. Head coach Zac Taylor said as much when he touched on Brown's status following Friday's practice, but fantasy managers should have some extra assurance about the running back being cleared to play ahead of Sunday's 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff. Expect Brown and Zack Moss to continue operating in a tandem out of the backfield that has proven beneficial for both players, who have three touchdowns apiece on the season.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: RBs to Start

I like Brown as a No. 2 running back this week against the Giants even though Zack Moss will play despite an ankle injury. And Moss can be considered a flex this week as well. We're starting to see the upside of Brown the past two games against the Panthers and Ravens when he's had at least 15 total touches in each outing, and he scored at least 16.4 PPR points both times. This isn't an easy matchup against the Giants, but three running backs have already scored at least 13.1 PPR points against them this season. I'm hopeful that Brown gets the lead role against the Giants, and it would be great if he could take over the Cincinnati backfield for good.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Questionable for Sunday

Brown (quadricep) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game at the Giants. Brown was a midweek addition to the Bengals' practice report Thursday as limited due to a quad injury. On Friday, coach Zac Taylor relayed to Geoff Hobson of the team's official site that both Brown and fellow RB Zack Moss (foot) were good to go for Week 6 action, but Brown won't avoid a designation heading into the weekend. While Brown seemingly is in line to be available Sunday, his status won't be confirmed until about 90 minutes before an 8:20 p.m. ET kickoff.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Ready for Week 6 action

Coach Zac Taylor noted Friday that Brown (quadricep) is good to go for Sunday night's game against the Giants, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site and Ben Baby of ESPN.com report. The quad injury that limited Brown on Thursday was evidently very minor, and he's in line to continue to share backfield duties with Zack Moss (foot), who also is set to be available this weekend, per Taylor. Through Cincinnati's first five contests, Brown has carried 41 times for 230 yards and two TDs and added 10 catches for 39 yards and another score, while Moss has logged 57 carries for 211 yards and two touchdowns and caught 15 passes for 124 yards and a TD.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Top DFS Play

Brown has the third-highest explosive run rate in the NFL at 17.1% and 47.4% of his rushes have gone for at least five yards. He should probably be the lead back even if Moss is recovered from his ankle injury. Brown will be more of a contrarian play if Moss plays, and the chalk if Moss is out. I want him in my lineup either way.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Set to share work with Moss

The nature of Cincinnati's backfield split between Brown and Zack Moss remains somewhat unclear ahead of Sunday's game against New England, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports. Both running backs are expected to be heavily involved, and the good news for fantasy purposes is that there may even be room for both to thrive Week 1 with the team opening its season at home as a heavy favorite. The Bengals won't always be favored by more than a touchdown, of course, and there will be plenty of weeks in which wideouts Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins comfortably outproduce the running backs. With that in mind, it will be important to keep close tabs on how the Bengals deploy Moss and Brown in various situations, although there's some chance it's more of a hot-hand approach than anything else. Brown is much faster and more dangerous in the open field, but Moss is viewed as a superior blocker and could thus take on more playing time in pass situations even if he's less threatening on screens and dumpoffs. And while Moss is a logical favorite for goal-line carries, it's possible even those opportunities are split between the two backs to some degree.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Working with starters a lot

Brown took a majority of first-team reps during the first three practices of training camp, Charlie Clifford of NBC 5 Cincinnati reports. Free-agent signee Zack Moss is healthy and also getting some first-team work, but apparently not quite as much as Brown, a 2023 fifth-round pick who averaged 8.8 touches for 53.7 yards over the final six weeks of last season. It was a promising finish to his rookie year, with the stipulation that Brown's production came from a few big plays rather than snap-to-snap consistency (he also played only eight snaps on offense before Week 13). There are some other positives in his profile, including a 4.43 40-yard dash (at 5-foot-10, 209 pounds) and a senior season at Illinois with 355 touches for 1,883 yards and 13 TDs. The question now is whether Brown shows enough skill development to earn a starting job over the steady-but-boring Moss.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Looks set for No. 2 role

Brown appears primed to work as the top backup to Zack Moss following the 2024 NFL Draft, Paul Dehner of The Athletic reports. The Bengals didn't select a single running back across 10 picks in this year's draft, so even if the team brings in a handful of talented UDFAs, Brown looks like a notable winner for fantasy purposes. He flashed across 12 appearances as a rookie last season, and while Moss' experience with a large workload and on third downs may make him the favorite for the No. 1 role, Brown's short-area burst could make him an effective complementary option. If Brown can put together a solid offseason and push for increased touches, he could be an interesting late-round sleeper in 2024 drafts.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Handles 12 touches in Week 18

Brown rushed 11 times for 43 yards and caught one of two targets for 10 yards in Sunday's 31-14 win over the Browns. Brown continued to operate as the No. 2 running back behind starter Joe Mixon in the season finale, with the rookie's 11 carries marking his highest total of the campaign. Though he saw a larger role over the second half of the season, Brown's opportunities were fairly limited in 2023, as he totaled 44 carries for 179 yards and added 14 catches for 156 yards and a touchdown over 12 games. Though Mixon is under contract for 2024, he's owed a $3 million roster bonus March 16, so Brown's role heading into next season should come into focus by that date. Even if the Bengals elect to keep Mixon in the fold next season, it's possible that the 23-year-old Brown earns a larger role as part of a timeshare after Mixon continued to demonstrate middling efficiency as a rusher in 2023. Mixon has now finished with 4.1 yards per carry or fewer in each of the last five seasons.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Handles six touches

Brown rushed four times for 16 yards and secured both of his targets for eight yards in Saturday's 34-11 loss to the Steelers. Brown operated as the Bengals' No. 2 running back Saturday, playing 14 of Cincinnati's 64 offensive snaps. Meanwhile, starter Joe Mixon played 38 snaps and carried the ball 11 times in the contest. Brown has earned extra opportunities in recent weeks, but he saw a dip in his recent usage on a day when the Bengals struggled to get much going on offense. The rookie will look to get more involved behind Mixon in a Week 17 matchup with the Chiefs.

  • Bengals' Chase Brown: Sleeper RBs

The Steelers are beat up defensively with both safeties out in Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) and Domatnae Kazee (suspension) and tackling at the second level of the defense could be a problem. That should help Joe Mixon, who is a must-start Fantasy running back, but Brown is also worth using as a flex in Week 16. He's done well over the past two games in tandem with Mixon with three catches in each of those two outings against the Colts and Vikings, and he's scored at least 8.1 PPR points in each game. He also has three games in a row with at least seven carries. Brown could be awesome with more work, but just use him as a flex in this matchup.
