Newsome (knee) was not listed on the injury report following Wednesday's practice.
Newsome was working through a knee issue during training camp, but his full participation in Wednesday's practice indicates that he'll play against the Cowboys on Sunday. Newsome joined the Giants in March on a one-year, $10 million contract, and he projects to start opposite Deonte Banks at outside corner, while Paulson Adebo and rookie second-rounder Colton Hood provide depth at the position. Newsome appeared in 12 regular-season games for the Jaguars in 2025, finishing with 29 tackles (23 solo) and six pass defenses (including one interception).

Giants' Greg Newsome: Dealing with knee issue
Newsome (knee) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Vikings, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
It is unclear when exactly Newsome picked up the knee issue. The cornerback is set to start opposite Paulson Adebo (hamstring), who is also not playing in Saturday's game, during the regular season. The Giants will likely roll with Deonte Banks and Colton Hood for the majority of snaps at cornerback throughout the preseason.

Giants' Greg Newsome: Joining Big Blue
Newsome is slated to sign a one-year deal worth up to $10 million with the Giants, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Following a 13-game stint (including playoffs) with the Jaguars, Newsome has found a new home in New York after spending his first four full NFL seasons with the Browns. Despite recording 32 total tackles and six passes defensed, including one interception, during his time in Jacksonville, the 2021 first-round pick struggled in coverage, allowing a 107.5 passer rating when targeted. However, he's shown flashes throughout his career, most notably during the 2023 season when he posted 49 total tackles, including 0.5 sacks, and 14 passes defensed, including two interceptions, while allowing a 74.8 passer rating when targeted. Now in New York, Newsome is expected to operate as one of the Giants' top boundary corners during the 2026 season.

Jaguars' Greg Newsome: Finishes 2025 season with Jags
Newsome appeared in 17 regular-season games between the Browns (five games) and Jaguars (12 games) in 2025 and accumulated 52 tackles (41 solo) and nine pass defenses (one interception).
Newsome started the season with Cleveland before being traded to the Jaguars in early October. He played a key role in both teams' defenses, and despite dealing with shoulder, hamstring and ankle injuries throughout the season, he ended the 2025 campaign with a career high in total tackles.
