Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Monday that Jones will miss the remainder of the season due to a fractured fibula, Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Jones was already known to have suffered a season-ending injury in Sunday's loss to the Saints, but the precise nature of his injury wasn't known until Stefanski provided clarity on the matter. With Jones set to undergo surgery to address the broken fibula, Jedrick Wills (knee) -- if healthy -- should get the first opportunity to reclaim a starting role at left tackle beginning with Thursday's game against the Steelers.

Browns' Dawand Jones: Done for season
Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said that Jones will be out for the rest of the season after fracturing his left ankle during Sunday's 35-14 loss to the Saints, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Jones was carted off the field and had his left leg in an air cast in the second quarter of Sunday's game. Further tests confirmed that Jones fractured his ankle, and the 2023 fourth-round pick will soon undergo surgery, per Chris Easterling of the Akron Beacon Journal. With Jones done for the season, Jedrick Wills could reclaim his starting spot at left tackle if he's able to overcome the knee injury that kept him out of Sunday's game. If Wills isn't ready to play Week 12 against the Steelers, the Browns will likely turn to Germain Ifedi at left tackle.

Jones had to be carted off the field with his left leg in an air cast after he was hurt in the second quarter, so it's not surprising that the offensive tackle has since been ruled out. The Browns have a quick turnaround with a Week 12 contest against Pittsburgh on Thursday Night Football, and Jones' status for that matchup is in considerable doubt. Jones underwent surgery in December to repair the torn MCL in his right knee that he sustained in practice. He sat out of OTAs and minicamp, but the 2023 fourth-round pick appears to have fully recovered from his surgery and is slated to serve as the backup right tackle behind Jack Conklin (knee).
