  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Broken collarbone confirmed

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor confirmed Tuesday that Turner sustained a fractured clavicle during Sunday's loss to the Chargers and will be placed on injured reserve, Geoff Hobson of the Bengals' official site reports. Just as the Bengals had feared, Turner suffered a significant injury in the Week 11 loss, and there's a good chance he'll miss the remainder of the season as a result. The loss of Turner will likely open up a starting spot in the secondary for rookie fifth-rounder Josh Newton. Expect the Bengals to formally place Turner on IR later this week.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Likely out for season

Turner is feared to have sustained a fractured clavicle in Sunday's game against the Chargers, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports. The 2023 second-rounder was settling into a starting role at cornerback, but now it looks like his second season is probably going to get cut short. If that ends up being the case, rookie fifth-rounder Josh Newton would figure to step up as a starter.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Likely starting moving forward

Turner is the top candidate to fill in for the injured Dax Hill (knee) on the Bengals' defense, Ben Baby of ESPN.com reports. The 2023 second-round pick filled in for Hill when he exited Cincinnati's 41-38 overtime loss to the Ravens in Week 5, and Turner is expected to remain on the Bengals' first-team defense with his teammate out for the remainder of the season. Turner has accumulated 63 total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and defended nine passes across his first 23 NFL regular-season games. He'll aim to bolster a Cincinnati defense that currently ranks in the bottom 10 in the NFL in points allowed per game (29.0), yards per pass attempt (6.9) and yards per play (5.6).

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Competition for starting gig

Turner and Dax Hill are competing for the starting perimeter cornerback role opposite Cam Taylor-Britt, Kelsey Conway of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Turner claimed a starting role with Cincinnati by Week 12 of his rookie season, but the 2023 second-round pick is now in a true competition with Hill, who lined up at safety last season. Conway reports that Hill could have an early lead in the competition as of mandatory minicamp, but it will be difficult to make much of offseason practices until full pads come on at training camp in late July.

  • Bengals' DJ Turner: Solid rookie campaign

Turner racked up 50 tackles (40 solo), one sack, seven pass breakups and one fumble recovery across 17 regular-season games with the Bengals in 2023. Turner, a 2023 second-round pick, claimed a starting role in Cincinnati's secondary by Week 12 of his rookie season after playing third-down snaps right off the bat. Despite being somewhat undersized, Turner's speed and ability to quickly change direction allowed him to handle coverage assignments, offering room for optimism that he could develop into a true standout cornerback.
