  • Colts' Coleman Owen: Lands with Indianapolis

The Colts signed Owen to a reserve/future contract Monday. The undrafted rookie out of Ohio spent a majority of the season on Indianapolis' practice squad, appearing in two games with 20 total snaps (19 on special teams and one offensive) and accounting for 143 total return yards. Owen will have the opportunity to participate in the Colts' offseason activities and attempt to earn a spot on their active roster next season.

  • Coleman Owen: Placed back on practice squad

Owen reverted to Indianapolis' practice squad Tuesday, per the NFL's transaction log. Owen was elevated ahead of Monday's Week 16 loss to San Francisco and played one offensive snap, getting one target that he didn't catch. He also played nine special-teams snaps, logging three kick returns for 89 yards. It was the second straight week Owen was elevated, which coincides with Anthony Gould missing the past two weeks due to a foot injury. It's likely that Owen's chance of being elevated again for Sunday's Week 17 game against the Jaguars hinges on whether Gould is able to return.

  • Colts' Coleman Owen: Joins active roster

Owen was elevated from the Colts' practice squad to the active roster Monday. The 24-year-old has joined the Colts' active roster for the second consecutive game. In the Week 15 loss to the Seahawks, Owen played 10 special-teams snaps while tallying 52 kickoff-return yards and two punt-return yards. He's expected to play a similar role Monday night, likely operating as Indianapolis' top return man.

  • Coleman Owen: Back to practice squad

Owen reverted to the Colts' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log. Owen was brought up from the practice squad Saturday to provide depth at wide receiver in the absence of Anthony Gould (foot). Owen ended up playing solely on special teams and returned one punt for two yards and two kickoffs for 52 yards. The undrafted rookie is eligible to be elevated from the practice squad twice more this season.

  • Colts' Coleman Owen: Elevated for Week 15

The Colts elevated Owen from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday ahead of Sunday's game against the Seahawks. Anthony Gould (foot) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest, so Owen will serve as Indy's fifth wide receiver behind Michael Pittman, Alec Pierce, Josh Downs and Laquon Treadwell. Gould is also the primary kick returner and punt returner for the Colts, so, in his absence, Owen might see action in those roles. This marks Owen's first practice-squad elevation of the season, leaving two more opportunities for him to be elevated this year.

  • Coleman Owen: Cut by Indianapolis

The Colts waived Owen on Tuesday, Amanda Foster of the team's official site reports. Owen signed with the Colts as an undrafted free agent in May and entered training camp competing for a depth spot at wide receiver. He led all Colts receivers in catches (13) and targets (16) while finishing second in yards (124) with a touchdown across three preseason games, but it wasn't enough for the Ohio product to crack the team's 53-man roster. Still, Owen showed enough during training camp and the preseason to garner interest from teams looking to add wide receiver depth through the waiver wire. If he clears waivers, Owen would be a candidate to return to the Colts as a member of the practice squad.
