Cowboys' Tyler Guyton: X-rays negative on back
Head coach Brian Schottenheimer said Friday that X-rays on Guyton's back came back negative, Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News reports.
It's positive news for the third-year pro, who sustained a back injury late during the Cowboys' loss to the Buccaneers on Thursday. Dallas' Week 6 practice participation will provide clarity on Guyton's chances of playing against the Packers on Sunday, Oct. 18.

Cowboys' Tyler Guyton: Gets positive news from X-rays
Guyton had X-rays on his back that "looked good" following Thursday's loss to Tampa Bay, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site reports.
Guyton exited late in the contest Thursday and didn't return. Head coach Brian Schotenheimer seemed optimistic about Guyton's X-ray results but also indicated that the team will run more tests on the left tackle. It remains to be seen if Guyton will be able to play against the Packers in Week 6, though it may help his cause that he'll have 10 days to try to be ready to suit up.

Guyton exited Thursday's game against Tampa Bay due to a back injury and didn't return, Jane Slater of NFL Network reports.
Guyton was deemed questionable late in the fourth quarter, and he didn't end up re-entering the contest. It's not clear if he'd have been able to get back on the field if there was more time left on the clock when he departed. As such, it bears watching Dallas' injury reports next week to get more insight about Guyton's status for Week 6 against Green Bay.

Guyton was dealing with elbow soreness last month but is now healthy again. The 2024 first-round pick is expected to serve as the Cowboys' starting left tackle once the regular season gets underway.

Guyton was limited in Tuesday's training camp practice due to a sore elbow, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports.
Guyton was held out of team drills as a result of his sore elbow, but there's no indication that the injury is a long-term concern. He entered training camp in a competition for the starting left tackle role, but Joe Hoyt of The Dallas Morning News relays that Guyton won the job over 2024 seventh-rounder Nathan Thomas.

Cowboys' Tyler Guyton: Competing for starting job
Coach Brian Schottenheimer said Thursday that Guyton (ankle) is competing with 2024 seventh-rounder Nathan Thomas for the job of starting left tackle, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
It's not clear what level of danger there is that he could actually cede his starting role to Thomas, but it's good news for Guyton that he no longer seems to be hindered by the ankle injury that landed him on IR at the end of last season. Unless Thomas totally dazzles Dallas' coaches in the coming months, Guyton should be expected to be the one protecting Dak Prescott's blindside in 2026.

Cowboys' Tyler Guyton: Done for 2025
The Cowboys placed Guyton (ankle) on injured reserve Wednesday.
Guyton missed the Cowboys' last four games while nursing an ankle injury. His placement on injured reserve means the second-year offensive lineman will miss the final two games of the regular season, and he'll shift his focus toward being available for the minicamp in the offseason. Nate Thomas will continue to hold down the fort at left tackle in Guyton's absence.
