Steelers' Nick Herbig: Sets career-best mark in sacks
Herbig recorded 30 tackles (21 solo), including 7.5 sacks, along with an interception, three pass defenses, three forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and a touchdown over 15 regular-season appearances in 2025.
While Herbig's tackle total didn't jump off the page during the 2025 campaign, he ranked second on the team in sacks despite appearing in just 15 regular-season matchups. The 2023 fourth-round pick was on the field for just 53 percent of the Steelers' defensive snaps this year and could have the potential to build upon his production during the final season of his rookie contract in 2026 if his playing time increases.

Steelers' Nick Herbig: Ready to go Sunday
Herbig (hamstring) has no injury designation heading into Sunday's contest against the Browns, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Herbig upgraded to full participation in Friday's practice and will play Sunday versus the Browns after missing Week 16 with a hamstring injury. The 24-year-old will be crucial for the front-seven in Week 17 as star T.J. Watt (lung) is out for yet another game. Herbig has 29 tackles (20 solo), including 6.5 sacks, and two pass breakups, including one interception.

Steelers' Nick Herbig: Limited Wednesday
Herbig (hamstring) was a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Herbig was able to start his week of practice with a limited session, a strong sign for the linebacker's playing chances for Sunday's game against the Browns. Every front-seven player will be key for a Steelers defense that may be without T.J. Watt (lung) yet again. Herbig will have two more chances to upgrade his practice participation in the hopes of dodging an injury designation ahead of Sunday's divisional matchup.

Steelers' Nick Herbig: Out for Week 16
Herbig (hamstring) has been downgraded and ruled out ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Lions, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
The third-year pro from Wisconsin upgraded from DNPs on Wednesday and Thursday to a limited session Friday, suggesting he was trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's matchup. However, it now appears he won't be able to suit up for the Week 16 contest. While Herbig is sidelined Sunday, expect Alex Highsmith and rookie Jack Sawyer to operate as the Steelers' top outside linebackers.

Steelers' Nick Herbig: Unlikely to play vs. Detroit
Herbig (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday's game against the Lions, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Herbig managed to log a limited practice Friday, but his hamstring injury appears to be severe enough that he'll likely be sidelined for Sunday's contest. With T.J. Watt (calf) already ruled out, rookie fourth-rounder Jack Sawyer would be the top candidate to start at edge rusher opposite Alex Highsmith if Herbig is sidelined for Week 16.

Herbig (hamstring) did not participate at practice Wednesday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Herbig sustained a hamstring injury during the team's 28-15 win over the Dolphins on Monday Night Football, and he has now opened the week on the sidelines at practice. The linebacker will have two more chances to return to practice before Sunday's matchup with the Lions.

Steelers' Nick Herbig: Picks up hamstring injury in win
Herbig suffered a hamstring injury in Monday night's 28-15 win over the Dolphins, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Herbig was thrust into a starting role in Week 15 with T.J. Watt (chest) unavailable, and he notched one tackle in the contest. He appears to have left the game a little worse for wear, and his status at practice will be worth monitoring ahead of the team's matchup with the Lions on the road Sunday.
