San Francisco placed Collins (knee) on injured reserve Thursday.
This move was anticipated, as Collins is set to miss the entire 2026 campaign as a result of tearing his patellar tendon during practice Tuesday. Osa Odighizuwa, CJ West and Gracen Halton should get plenty of reps at defensive tackle with Collins and Sam Okuayinonu (foot) sidelined.

Collins will miss the entire 2026 season after suffering a torn patellar tendon during Tuesday's practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
The loss of Collins is another big blow to the 49ers' defensive front, as Sam Okuayinonu is scheduled to undergo surgery this weekend for a broken foot. Collins will eventually be placed on injured reserve, and the 2025 second-rounder will shift his focus toward being fully healthy for the start of the 2027 campaign. With rookie fourth-rounder Gracen Halton (ankle) and James Thompson (hamstring) also dealing with injuries, Osa Odighizuwa and CJ West are the only healthy defensive tackles on the 49ers' roster heading into Thursday's regular-season opener against the Rams in Melbourne, Australia.

Collins is dealing with an apparent knee injury ahead of the team's regular-season opener, but considering he was able to practice in any capacity, it is likely a minor issue. The defensive lineman will have a chance to erase any doubt about his availability to play in Week 1 by logging a full practice Wednesday.

The 49ers activated Collins (shoulder) from the active/PUP list Friday after he passed a physical, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Collins was working through a shoulder injury during the offseason, but he's now healthy enough to participate in practices. The 2025 second-rounder played in 16 regular-season games in his rookie year, finishing with 17 tackles (four solo), including 1.0 sacks, two pass defenses, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

Collins appeared on Thursday's practice report as a DNP due to a hip injury, which also prevented him from practicing Friday.
