Patriots' Marcus Bryant: Placed on IR with designation to return
The Patriots placed Bryant (ankle) on injured reserve with a designation to return Sunday.
Bryant suffered an ankle injury during the Patriots' second preseason game Saturday, Aug. 22 against the Eagles. The injury is severe enough for the second-year pro to open the regular season on IR, meaning he'll be required to miss at least the first four games of the regular season. Bryant did not start in any of the 12 regular-season games he appeared in last year, and in his absence, the likes of Caleb Lomu, Walter Rouse and Dametrious Crownover will provide depth at offensive tackle behind Morgan Moses and Will Campbell.

Patriots' Marcus Bryant: Ruled out with ankle injury
Bryant has been ruled out for the rest of Saturday's preseason game against the Eagles due to an ankle injury, Evan Lazar of the Patriots' official site reports.
Bryant sustained the injury on the Patriots' first offensive drive of the game. He had to be helped off the field by trainers before going to the locker room, where he'll undergo more tests to determine the severity of his injury. Dametrious Crownover has taken over at right tackle for Bryant.

Patriots' Marcus Bryant: Patriots select Round 7 tackle
The Patriots selected Bryant in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft, 220th overall.
Bryant (6-foot-7, 320 pounds) certainly has the build to play tackle in the NFL, and the Patriots will probably give him a shot at right tackle after a five-year collegiate career spent at SMU (2020-23) and Missouri (2024). Bryant actually started at left tackle last year for the same offensive line where seventh-overall pick Armand Membou played at right tackle, but Bryant might be a bit too top-heavy and inflexible to stay on the left side in the NFL.
