Young missed practice Thursday and Friday with an illness before returning as a full participant Saturday. The 2020 No. 2 overall pick has been productive in his first season with New Orleans, tallying 25 tackles, including 5.5 sacks, and two passes defended. Valdes-Scantling initially didn't practice Thursday due to a chest injury and then didn't participate in either of the two subsequent ones presumably thanks in some part to an illness, which was tacked on to Friday's injury. It remains to be seen if Valdes-Scantling will be active in the matchup against the team that drafted him, but with Chris Olave (concussion) and Bub Means (ankle) both ruled out, the Saints are woefully thin at wide receiver.

Saints' Chris Olave: Won't return in Week 16
Olave (concussion) has been ruled out for Monday's contest at Green Bay.
The Saints designated Olave to return from injured reserve Thursday, which he followed up with three consecutive limited practices during Week 16 prep. Without a full session under his belt, he has yet to make his way through the concussion protocol and thus will miss a sixth straight game. Marquez Valdes-Scantling (chest/illness) is listed as questionable for Monday's game, which leaves Kevin Austin, Dante Pettis, Cedrick Wilson and Mason Tipton as the healthy wide receivers on New Orleans' active roster.

Saints' Spencer Rattler: Officially starting for Carr
Rattler will start Monday at Green Bay due to Derek Carr (left hand) ruled out for the contest, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Interim coach Darren Rizzi implied as much Thursday but still left the door open for Carr to prove his health as the week went on. However, Carr hasn't made enough progress in his recovery, allowing Rattler his fourth career start. In five appearances overall in his rookie campaign, Rattler has completed 69 of 120 passes (57.5 percent) for 706 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, recorded nine carries for 61 yards and committed three fumbles (two lost). Jake Haener will serve as Rattler's backup Monday.

Saints' Bub Means: Suffers setback to ankle injury
Means recently suffered a setback in his recovery from a Week 8 ankle injury and is not expected to return this season, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
The Saints haven't made the official designation, and Means technically still has one more week to return until his 21-day activation window expires, but interim head coach Darren Rizzi's comments seem to indicate the rookie won't play the rest of the year. The rookie fifth-round pick emerged as a rotational option after injuries decimated New Orleans' wide receiver depth earlier in the year, and Means could profile as a depth piece for the team entering 2025.

Saints' Derek Carr: Ruled out for Week 16
Interim coach Darren Rizzi said Saturday that Carr (hand) "hasn't progressed enough" and has been ruled out for Monday's game in Green Bay, Matthew Paras of The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports.
In particular, Carr still is regaining strength in his left, non-throwing hand that sustained a fracture back in Week 14 at the Giants, per Mike Triplett of NewOrleans.Football. With Carr out for a second game in a row, the Saints will turn to Spencer Rattler under center Monday, while Jake Haener will serve as his backup. Carr's next opportunity to suit up is Sunday, Dec. 29 versus the Raiders.

This comes as no surprise, as Kamara didn't practice during Week 16 prep following comments from Rizzi on Thursday that the running back wasn't likely to suit up. In Kamara's place, Kendre Miller is set to lead the Saints backfield Monday, with Jamaal Williams and Jordan Mims available for complementary reps. Kamara's next chance to play is Sunday, Dec. 29 against the Raiders.
