Derek Stepan and the New York Rangers are scheduled for salary arbitration this month. (USATSI)

There were 25 players scheduled to go to salary arbitration this summer with the first hearing officially scheduled for July 20 (and the final one is scheduled for July 31).

Many of the players on the list will re-sign with their teams (and many already have) and avoid the always unpleasant arbitration process.

The two most notable players scheduled for hearings are New York Rangers forward Derek Stepan and Washington Capitals goaltender Braden Holtby.

Stepan is the Rangers' No. 1 center and is coming off of 55-point season in 68 games and is no doubt looking for a significant pay raise after Ryan O'Reilly just signed a $52.5 million deal over seven years with the Buffalo Sabres

Holtby just finished another strong season in net for the Capitals and continued to solidify his status as one of the better goaltenders in the league. Since making his NHL debut in 2010-11 only six goalies in the NHL (minimum 100 games played) have a better save percentage than Holtby's current .921 mark.
