Mark Pysyk: Released from PTO
Pysyk was released from his professional tryout agreement by the Ducks on Friday.
Pysyk joined Anaheim on a PTO in mid-September but was unable to earn a spot on the Opening Night roster. He made 37 appearances in the AHL last season, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him play there again this year.

Pysyk signed a professional tryout agreement with Anaheim on Thursday, according to Kevin Allen of Detroit Hockey Now.
Pysyk last played in the NHL during the 2021-22 season, when he had three goals, nine assists and 85 blocked shots in 68 regular-season games. Pysyk played 37 AHL games last season, picking up four assists. He is a long shot to make the Ducks' lineup and likely will play once again in the AHL.

Flames' Mark Pysyk: Inks two-way contract
Pysyk signed a one-year, two-way contract with Calgary on Saturday,
Pysyk was immediately placed on waivers. He will give the Flames a depth defenseman after they dealt Nikita Zadorov to Vancouver on Thursday. Pysyk signed a professional tryout agreement with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton a month ago and played eight games, picking up one assist. He missed the 2022-23 campaign after undergoing Achilles surgery in July of 2022. The 31-year-old should get ice time with AHL Calgary as the Flames currently have seven blueliners, as well as Oliver Kylington due back shortly after missing all of 2022-23 and the start of this season for personal reasons.

Penguins' Mark Pysyk: Signs PTO with AHL Penguins
Pysyk (lower body) inked a professional tryout agreement with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
Pysyk had a PTO with Pittsburgh during training camp but was unable to get into any game action after suffering the injury early in camp. Pysyk missed the entire 2022-23 season after undergoing Achilles surgery in July of 2022. Look for Pysyk to get in ample AHL game action before Pittsburgh decides if he is good enough to play again in the NHL.

Penguins' Mark Pysyk: Skates Thursday
Pysyk (lower body) skated prior to Pittsburgh's morning skate Thursday, though coach Mike Sullivan told reporters, "His status hasn't changed," per Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff.
Pysyk technically remains unsigned by the team after getting hurt during training camp while on a PTO. In addition to getting back to 100 percent, the club would need to create a spot on the 23-man roster to sign the veteran blueliner. At this point, given his lengthy recovery, it's possible Pysyk will sign an AHL-only contract once cleared to play in order to get some game action in before the Penguins would consider an NHL deal.

Penguins' Mark Pysyk: Dealing with lower-body injury
According to coach Mike Sullivan, Pysyk will be out "longer term" with a lower-body injury, Matt Vensel of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Pysyk, who is attending Pittsburgh's training camp on a PTO, missed the entirety of the 2022-23 season with an Achilles injury, so it obviously doesn't bode well for his chances of securing a contract with the Penguins that he's already expected to miss extended time with a lower-body issue.

Penguins' Mark Pysyk: Gets PTO from Pens
Pysyk (Achilles) signed a professional tryout agreement with the Penguins on Tuesday, per CapFriendly.
Pysyk missed all of 2022-23 due to an Achilles injury he suffered last July after signing with the Red Wings. The 31-year-old defenseman had 12 points in 68 outings with the Sabres in 2021-22, and he's shown the versatility to play either as a third-pairing defenseman or bottom-six forward in previous years. If Pysyk can earn a contract from the Penguins, he would bolster their organizational defensive depth.

Red Wings' Mark Pysyk: Likely out for season
Pysyk (Achilles) is not expected to return during the 2022-23 season, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.
Pysyk reinjured his Achilles in November and it seems like he'll end up missing the entire campaign. The 31-year-old blueliner could be ready for training camp ahead of the 2023-24 season, but a more concrete return timeline won't be available until later in his rehab process.

Red Wings' Mark Pysyk: Reinjures Achilles
Pysyk has reportedly reinjured his surgically repaired Achilles, Frank Seravalli of DFO reports.
Pysyk was already expected to be out until at least January, but this has the potential to be a serious -- and potential season-ending -- setback. The Red Wings have not officially commented on Pysyk's status, so it's unclear how much longer his recovery will stretch following this latest news.

Red Wings' Mark Pysyk: Won't return in 2022
Pysyk (Achilles) is not expected back before January, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports Wednesday.
Pysyk was always going to be sidelined long term following his Achilles injury, so this recovery timeline shouldn't come as a surprise. Even once cleared to play, Pysyk could struggle to break into the lineup over the likes of Gustav Lindstrom or Jordan Oesterle, though perhaps he would be willing to move to forward again to see more ice time. Pysyk figures to wind up on long-term injured reserve in order to provide the club with some cap relief.

Red Wings' Mark Pysyk: Undergoes Achilles procedure
Pysyk had surgery to repair a torn Achilles on Monday and is expected to miss 4-6 months.
Pysyk facing a 4-6 month absence would explain why the team went and signed Robert Hagg to a one-year deal. Even on the short end of Pysyk's recovery timeline, he wouldn't be available until late November. At this point, Pysyk probably doesn't offer enough fantasy upside in most formats to warrant holding on to him while he is sidelined.

Red Wings' Mark Pysyk: Earns one-year deal
Pysyk signed a one-year, $850,000 contract with Detroit on Thursday.
Pysyk has never reached the 20-point threshold in his 10-year NHL career, so fantasy players probably shouldn't be banking on him suddenly producing offensively with his new club. The blueliner also doesn't dish out a lot of hits, he logged 41 last season.

Pysyk produced an assist, three blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 3-2 win over the Oilers.
Pysyk has picked up two of his three helpers this year in the last two games. The 29-year-old blueliner isn't known to contribute much on offense -- his career high in points is 18 in 58 games when he was deployed as winger with the Panthers in 2019-20. Pysyk signed a one-year, $900,000 contract with the Sabres on Wednesday.
Pysyk found little success with the Stars last year, posting just four points in 36 contests in a limited role. The 29-year-old began his NHL career in Buffalo, where he spent four seasons before joining the Panthers. Pysyk will likely see bottom-four minutes with the Sabres, although he also has experience as a bottom-six forward.

It was just the second goal of the season for Pysyk, who last lit the lamp Feb. 11 against Carolina. The depth utility player has three points and a plus-6 rating in 30 games on the year.
