Top Nick Cousins News

  • Senators' Nick Cousins: Contributes assist

Cousins provided an assist in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Kraken.

Cousins has picked up the pace on offense with four points over his last four games. That's all of his production for the season, and the 31-year-old's scoring is likely to remain sporadic while he's on the fourth line. Over 11 contests, Cousins has accumulated 17 shots on net, 18 hits, two PIM and a plus-1 rating.

  • Senators' Nick Cousins: First two points with new team

Cousins scored a goal and added an assist in Sunday's 5-4 loss to the Avalanche.

Cousins' first point of the season was a helper on a Brady Tkachuk goal in the third period. About two minutes later, Cousins scored to tie the game briefly at 2-2. These were his first two points as a Senator, and he's added 15 shots on net, 18 hits and a minus-2 rating through eight appearances. As expected, Cousins is seeing bottom-six minutes with minimal power-play time, so his chances to be an impact scorer in fantasy are low.

  • Senators' Nick Cousins: Agrees to one-year deal

Cousins inked a one-year, $800,000 contract with Ottawa on Thursday, RDS.ca reports.

Cousins will be suiting up for his seventh NHL franchise over the course of his 10-year NHL career, having most recently won the Stanley Cup with the Panthers. With Florida last year, he saw action in 69 regular-season contests in which he generated seven goals and eight assists while dishing out 129 hits. Look for Cousins to fill a bottom-six role with his new team that won't include power-play minutes. As such, his fantasy impact figures to be minimal at best.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Gets two points Thursday

Cousins provided a goal and an assist in Florida's 6-0 victory over Ottawa on Thursday.

Cousins was held off the scoresheet in his previous 12 appearances, but he's better known for his physical contributions, so it's not surprising that there was such a long gap between his offensive contributions. The 30-year-old has six goals, 12 points, 60 PIM and 121 hits in 64 outings in 2023-24. He figures to continue to play primarily in a bottom-six capacity going forward.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Lights lamp twice in win

Cousins scored two goals including the game-winner in Tuesday's 5-3 victory over the Devils.

After getting the Panthers on the board early in the first period, Cousins put his squad up 4-2 early in the third by tipping home a Gustav Forsling point shot. Cousins came into Tuesday with only three goals and eight points in 50 games on the season, but he was skating on the second line with Matthew Tkachuk and Sam Bennett in this one -- an assignment that could lead to some short-term fantasy value for Cousins.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Good to go

Cousins (concussion) will be activated off injured reserve and return to the lineup Tuesday versus Philadelphia.

Cousins is expected to return to a third-line role after missing a month of action due to a concussion. He's collected only five points through 37 games this campaign.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Upgraded to day-to-day

Cousins (concussion) has been given the all-clear to practice but is still considered day-to-day and won't be ready to face the Penguins on Friday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.

Cousins made the trip with the Panthers and might still be able to suit up versus the Islanders on Saturday. Even once cleared to play, Cousins is unlikely to offer much in the way of fantasy value considering he is pointless in his last 14 outings and hasn't scored since Nov. 6 versus Columbus, a stretch of 26 contests without a goal.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Still not skating

Per Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site, Cousins has yet to resume skating as he is still experiencing concussion symptoms, according to coach Paul Maurice.

Cousins was injured Jan. 2 in Arizona and has missed the last three games. Prior to getting injured, Cousins was pointless in his last 14 games and has just two goals and five points in 37 NHL appearances this season. There is no timetable for his return at this time.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Moved to injured reserve

Cousins was placed on injured reserve Friday, according to Colby Guy of Florida Hockey Now

The move can be made retroactive to Tuesday, which is when Cousins was injured. That'd make him eligible to be activated in time for next Thursday's contest versus LA, though with Cousins being in the concussion protocol, it's not known how long he'll be out. He has two goals, five points and 45 hits in 37 contests this season. Jonah Gadjovich might play regularly during Cousins' absence.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: In concussion protocol

Cousins is in the concussion protocol, coach Paul Maurice told Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site on Wednesday.

Cousins was injured when he was hit from behind by Arizona's Jason Zucker during Tuesday's 4-1 victory over the Coyotes. Cousins has two goals, five points, 45 hits and 13 blocks in 37 outings this year. Ryan Lomberg will likely move up to the third line if Cousins can't play Thursday versus Vegas.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Missing from practice

Cousins was unable to practice Wednesday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports, which comes after he appeared to have been injured against Arizona on Tuesday, per David Dwork of The Hockey News.

Cousins played just one shift in the third period after being hit from behind by Arizona's Jason Zucker. The 30-year-old Cousins has played in all 37 games for the Panthers this season but is currently mired in a 14-game pointless streak and hasn't scored since Nov. 6 versus Columbus, a stretch of 26 contests. Ryan Lomberg will likely move into Cousins' third-line role if he can't play.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Grabs helper in win

Cousins posted an assist in Friday's 2-1 win over the Ducks.

Cousins had the secondary helper on Oliver Ekman-Larsson's goal, which was the game-winner. The assist snapped a five-game point streak for Cousins, who has shown little offense while filling a middle-six role this season. He's up to three points, 27 shots on goal, 19 hits, seven blocked shots and a minus-3 rating through 17 appearances.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Provides goal Monday

Cousins tallied a goal in a 5-4 overtime win over Columbus on Monday.

Cousins provided his second marker and point in 11 contests this season. He entered Monday's action averaging a modest 11:32 of ice time in 2023-24, but that kind of bottom-six role has been the norm for the 30-year-old forward throughout his career. Cousins has never recorded more than 27 points in a single year and is unlikely to exceed that total this campaign.

  • Panthers' Nick Cousins: Scores game-winner

Cousins potted the game-winning goal in a 3-2 victory over Seattle on Saturday.

Cousins broke a 2-2 tie at the 14:08 mark of the third period. It was his first point in seven games this season. Cousins also has 12 shots on net and 11 hits while occupying a middle-six role for the Panthers.
