  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Hangs on for fifth win

Gibson made 34 saves in Tuesday's 5-4 win over the Bruins. Boston fired 18 shots at Gibson in the third period as the visitors tried to mount a comeback from a 5-2 deficit, but the veteran netminder was able to withstand the barrage. The win was Gibson's first since Oct. 28, and on the season he's 5-7-1 in 14 outings with a shaky 3.62 GAA and .868 save percentage.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: In goal Tuesday

Gibson will be between the home pipes Tuesday versus the Bruins, according to Ted Kulfan of The Detroit News. Gibson hasn't won a game since Oct. 28 -- he's mired in a terrible stretch right now but will attempt to turn the tide Tuesday against a team missing some key players. Charlie McAvoy (face) and David Pastrnak (undisclosed) won't be available for the Bruins, which plays into Gibson's favor. Boston beat Detroit 3-2 in a shootout Saturday, but Cam Talbot was in goal for that game.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Another rough outing

Gibson made 22 saves on 27 shots in a 6-3 loss to the Lightning on Friday. The final marker was an empty-netter. He allowed five goals. Gibson has really scuffled since starting the season 4-2-0. Starting Oct. 31, he has gone 0-5-1 in seven starts with 26 goals allowed. Gibson has allowed five goals in each of his last three starts. You must keep him stapled to your bench right now. His post-Anaheim resurrection has not begun.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Facing Lightning

Gibson will patrol the home crease against Tampa Bay on Friday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Gibson has struggled since the end of October, going 0-4-1 while allowing 21 goals on 154 shots in his last six appearances. He has a 4-6-1 record with a 3.47 GAA and an .870 save percentage across 12 outings this season. Tampa Bay sits eighth in the league with 3.22 goals per game in the 2025-26 campaign.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Gets no help Thursday

Gibson stopped 21 shots in Thursday's 5-0 loss to the Islanders. The Red Wings looked weary as they played their fourth game in the last six days, and Gibson received no support either offensively or defensively. The veteran netminder hasn't won a game since Oct. 28, going 0-4-1 over his last six outings with a 3.73 GAA and .864 save percentage, and Gibson's in danger of falling out of a timeshare with Cam Talbot, who's gone 5-1-0 with a 2.37 GAA and .904 save percentage during that same span.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Slated to start Thursday

Gibson will serve as the starting goaltender at home against the Islanders on Thursday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Gibson didn't start in either of the last two games, but he'll return to the net Thursday and will attempt to end his recent skid. Across his past five appearances, Gibson has gone 0-3-1 with a 3.46 GAA and an .875 save percentage. The Islanders are scoring 3.20 goals per game this year, tying the team for 11th in the NHL.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Beaten five times Saturday

Gibson stopped 22 of 27 shots in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Sabres. Gibson looked on pace to secure the win when the Red Wings were leading 4-1 late in the second period, but he gave up four unanswered goals en route to another loss. He hasn't won in any of his past five starts, going 0-3-1 with a 3.46 GAA and an .875 save percentage over that span. Gibson's last win came against the Blues on Oct. 28. He's unlikely to get the starting nod Sunday on the road against the Rangers as the Red Wings wrap up a back-to-back set.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Tending twine Saturday

Gibson will patrol the home crease against Buffalo on Saturday, per Max Bultman of The Athletic. Before leaving Thursday's 6-3 win over Anaheim due to an upper-body injury, Gibson allowed two goals on 17 shots. However, he won't miss any additional action. He has posted a 4-5-0 record with a 3.14 GAA and an .882 save percentage across 10 appearances this season. Buffalo is tied for 29th in the league with 2.65 goals per game this campaign.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Available for Saturday

Gibson (upper body) was cleared and will be active Saturday versus Buffalo, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports Friday. Head coach Todd McLellan did not name a starter for Saturday at his Friday press conference, but did say that Gibson is good to go. Gibson, who left Thursday's game after two periods with the injury, is 4-5-0 with a 3.14 GAA and an .882 save percentage across 10 starts this season.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Sustains upper-body injury

Gibson (upper body) will be evaluated in the coming days after exiting Thursday's game versus the Ducks, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports. Gibson appeared to get clipped by an opposing player late in the second period and ultimately didn't return for the third. The 32-year-old allowed two goals on 17 shots prior to his exit. Gibson can be considered day-to-day until the Red Wings establish a timeline for him, but expect the team to be cautious since he has a lengthy injury history.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Expected starter for Thursday

Gibson is set to start at home against Anaheim on Wednesday, according to Max Bultman of The Athletic on Wednesday. Gibson will attempt to get back into the win column after losing his past three outings -- he allowed nine goals on 84 shots (.893 save percentage) over that stretch. The 32-year-old netminder has a 4-5-0 record, 3.15 GAA and .882 save percentage in nine outings this year. Anaheim has been a dangerous adversary this year. The Ducks have an 11-4-1 record and rank second in goals per game with 3.94.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Struggles against low volume

Gibson made 15 saves on 19 shots in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Blackhawks. Despite allowing four goals in Sunday's contest, three of those tallies came with a man advantage for Chicago, meaning Gibson allowed just one even-strength goal in garbage time. Overall, the 32-year-old has a 4-5-0 record with a 3.15 GAA and an .882 save percentage across nine appearances. After winning four of his first six appearances, Gibson has dropped three straight starts and is trending downward in fantasy. He is a risky spot start in all formats and is best left to waivers until he works his way back into the win column. Detroit's next game is at home versus Anaheim on Thursday, which would be Cam Talbot's turn in the crease, but the Red Wings may let Gibson get another look at his former team instead.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: In goal for Sunday

Gibson will patrol the home crease versus Chicago on Sunday, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com. Gibson has lost his last two starts, but he couldn't be blamed in his previous game, allowing only one goal on 34 shots in a 1-0 loss in Vegas. Overall, Gibson is 4-4-0 with a 3.03 GAA and an .890 save percentage over eight starts this season. The Blackhawks are 14th in NHL scoring, averaging 3.20 goals per game, a vast improvement over 2023-24 when they were 26th in the league, scoring at a 2.73 goals-per-game pace.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Gets no support in loss

Gibson stopped 33 of 34 shots in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Golden Knights. Gibson put in a good performance, but the Red Wings were unable to get a puck past Akira Schmid in the other crease. This was arguably one of Gibson's best performances of the season despite the unfortunate result. He's now 4-4-0 with a 3.03 GAA and an .890 save percentage across eight starts. The Red Wings have alternated goalies over the last week, so it wouldn't be surprising to see that trend continue. If it holds, Cam Talbot would face the Rangers on Friday, and Gibson's next start would come against the Blackhawks on Sunday for the first two games of Detroit's upcoming homestand.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: In goal against Knights

Gibson will get the starting nod on the road versus Vegas on Tuesday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Gibson will make his eighth appearance of the season, having gone 4-3-0 with a 3.32 GAA in his prior seven outings. Thus far, Gibson and Cam Talbot have split the starts pretty evenly, with the 32-year-old Gibson holding the slight edge with seven appearances in 13 games. The split share will likely continue all season, with the hot hand getting the start.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Loses to former team

Gibson allowed four goals on 31 shots in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Ducks. The fifth goal was an empty-netter. Gibson has allowed four goals in three of his last four outings, so he's a bit lucky to be 2-2-0 in that span. The 32-year-old wasn't able to fend off his former teammates in his return to Anaheim after the offseason trade that sent him to Detroit. Gibson is 4-3-0 with a 3.32 GAA and an .875 save percentage over seven appearances. The Red Wings visit the Sharks on Sunday, but they haven't announced a starting goalie for that contest at this time.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Set to start Friday

Gibson will serve as the starting netminder for Friday's road game against Anaheim, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. The Red Wings have a back-to-back set to close out the week, and Cam Talbot will start Thursday in Los Angeles while Gibson handles the second half of the back-to-back in a matchup against his former team. Gibson has started in five of the Red Wings' last six games, going 4-1-0 with a 2.60 GAA and .902 save percentage during that time.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Picks up second straight win

Gibson made 20 out of 22 saves in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Blues. Outside of an early goal from Brayden Schenn and a late twine finder from Jordan Kyrou, Gibson was steady, which allowed the Wings to pick up their second consecutive win. The 32-year-old Gibson has a 4-2-0 record with an .876 save percentage and a 3.20 GAA. Tuesday's performance was one of his strongest outings of the year, and he's beginning to provide a premium in the win column for fantasy managers. He's appeared in five of Detroit's last six games, and his success in that run is beginning to cement his hold on the starting spot over Cam Talbot.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Starting against St. Louis

Gibson will serve as the starting netminder for Tuesday's road game against St. Louis, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports. Gibson picked up the win at home against the Blues in his last start, and he'll have a chance to face St. Louis again Tuesday. He's started in four of the Red Wings' last five games, going 3-1-0 with a 2.75 GAA and .900 save percentage during that time.

  • Red Wings' John Gibson: Beaten four times, picks up win

Gibson stopped 25 of 29 shots in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues. Gibson was beaten four times between the first period and the early stages of the second frame. However, he shut the door afterward, and after receiving support from an offense that scored six unanswered goals, he ended up claiming the win. Despite winning three of his five starts this season, Gibson hasn't been a reliable presence between the pipes for Detroit. He's allowed at least four goals in three of those outings while stopping 107 of the 123 shots he's faced thus far.
