Oilers' Ryan Murray: Back from conditioning
Murray (back) was recalled from his conditioning loan Sunday, per CapFriendly.
Murray dressed in two games with AHL Bakersfield before returning to the Oilers. He hasn't appeared in an NHL game since November and his status for Monday's playoff tilt with the Kings is unclear. Murray will have to be removed from long-term injured reserve before he's eligible to play.

Murray (back) was loaned to AHL Bakersfield on a conditioning assignment Thursday.

Oilers' Ryan Murray: Not close to returning
Murray (back) is "weeks" away from rejoining the lineup, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports. The 29-year-old defender was also moved to long-term injured reserve Tuesday.
Given his recovery timetable, we likely won't see Murray back in action until after the All-Star break. Either way, he's only picked up three helpers through 13 games this season, so fantasy managers shouldn't need to track his status.

Oilers' Ryan Murray: Placed on injured reserve
Murray (back) was placed on injured reserve Friday, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports.
Murray last played Nov. 21 and has battled back problems his entire career. The Oilers needed to place someone on injured reserve as Ryan McLeod (high ankle sprain) was activated Friday. Murray has three assists in 13 games this season.

Oilers' Ryan Murray: Out for a month
Murray (back) is expected to miss a month, Mark Spector of Sportsnet reported Sunday.
Murray has already been out of the lineup for 14 straight games as of Monday's game versus the Predators, and a return is not on the horizon. The 29-year-old has battled back injuries in his past, so there's a fair possibility his absence could extend beyond a month if he has a tricky recovery. Markus Niemelainen figures to play on the third pairing with both Murray and Philip Broberg (ankle) unavailable, though Jason Demers could also be called up to fill a similar role.

Oilers' Ryan Murray: Helpers in consecutive contests
Murray notched an assist and three hits in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Golden Knights.
Murray has an assist in each of the last two games, giving him three on the year. He's added 11 hits, 12 blocked shots, eight shots on goal and a minus-4 rating through 12 appearances. He may still get scratched on occasion, but the newfound offense might help him stay in the lineup over Markus Niemelainen when the Oilers dress only six blueliners.

Oilers' Ryan Murray: Searching for more offense
Murray earned his second assist this season during Wednesday's 3-1 loss to the visiting Kings.
Murray, who had been held pointless for nine consecutive contests, earned his first helper since Oct. 15. The 29-year-old defenseman did the dirty work to get the Oilers on the board Wednesday. Murray denied Blake Lizotte's clearing attempt from exiting the offensive zone. Zach Hyman gained control and scored the Oilers' lone goal on a second-period backhander. Murray, the 2012 No. 2 overall draft pick, did not have a shot Wednesday for the fifth time in 11 outings.

Oilers' Ryan Murray: Gets first assist with new team
Murray produced an assist, three hits and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Flames.
Murray set up Ryan McLeod's second-period tally to get the Oilers within one. The assist was Murray's first point as an Oiler in his second game with the team. The second overall pick from 2012 had just four helpers in 37 games with the Avalanche last year, and he's never reached the 30-point mark. The 29-year-old has played on the third pairing to begin his Edmonton career, so there's not a lot of fantasy upside here.

Oilers' Ryan Murray: Heading to Oilers
The Oilers signed Murray to a one-year, $750,000 contract Friday.
Murray had four assists in 37 games with Colorado last season while averaging 14:05 minutes. He didn't appear in any postseason contests during the Avalanche's run to a Stanley Cup championship. Injuries hampered him during his tenure with Colorado, but he also served in a limited role while healthy. Still, he's turning just 29 on Sept. 27 and he's played as a top-four defenseman at times in the past, so he's someone to keep an eye on going into the Oilers' training camp.

Avalanche's Ryan Murray: Not ready for Game 1
Murray (hand) won't play Tuesday in Game 1 versus the Predators, Mike Chambers of The Denver Post reports.
Murray is still awaiting medical clearance to return from a hand injury that cost him the last 19 games of the regular season. The defenseman is no lock to play even when he is healthy, given his long layoff and the general health of the rest of the Avalanche's defensemen.

Avalanche's Ryan Murray: Still awaiting medical clearance
Murray (hand) continues to be sidelined for the Avs heading into Thursday's clash with Nashville, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.
Murray has already been on the shelf for Colorado's last 17 games and is poised to miss at least one more, though the fact that the team is heading into a back-to-back makes him unlikely for Friday's clash with Minnesota either. Considering the defenseman is pointless in his previous 22 contests, few fantasy players figure to be impacted even if he is cleared to return.

Avalanche's Ryan Murray: Facing multi-week absence
According to coach Jared Bednar, Murray (upper body) will be out "weeks not days" after suffering a fracture while blocking a shot during Monday's win over Edmonton, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Given the expected length of Murray's absence, the 28-year-old defender will likely surface on injured reserve in the coming days. Samuel Girard (lower body) is still out long term, and Bowen Byram (head) remains without an expected timetable for his return, so the Avalanche will likely need to promote a blueliner from their AHL affiliate to fill in for the foreseeable future.

Avalanche's Ryan Murray: Set to play Tuesday
Murray (upper body) will be in action versus the Coyotes on Tuesday, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Murray will be back in the lineup for the first time since Jan. 14 against the Coyotes, a stretch of nine games on the sidelines. Considering the defenseman has just four helpers in 21 outings this year, fantasy players shouldn't be expecting much out of him in terms of fantasy value moving forward.

This extends Murray's absence to eight consecutive games as he recovers from an upper-body injury. The defenseman, who has no goals and four assists this season, should be considered day-to-day leading up to Sunday's game versus Buffalo.
