  • Danny DeKeyser: Cut from camp

Vancouver released DeKeyser from his professional tryout contract Tuesday.

DeKeyser was among 13 roster cuts by the Canucks. He will have to find another team quickly if he wants to play in the NHL this season. DeKeyser supplied 11 assists, 57 shots on goal, 102 blocks and 49 hits in 59 games with Detroit last year.

  • Canucks' Danny DeKeyser: Signs PTO

DeKeyser penned a professional tryout offer with the Canucks on Friday.

DeKeyser appeared in 59 games with the Red Wings in 2021-22, picking up 11 helpers and a minus-8 rating while averaging 18:30 of ice time over that span. If he's able to land a one-way contract with Vancouver, he'll likely have to settle for a role as a rotational, bottom-pairing defender.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Sneaks in secondary helper

DeKeyser produced an assist in Saturday's 7-2 loss to the Penguins.

Aside from the occasional assist and blocked shot -- he's collected 10 and 98 of those respectively -- DeKeyser has failed to put up meaningful stats in his 10th NHL campaign. In all likelihood, the Wings let him walk as an unrestricted free agent this summer.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Ready to rock

DeKeyser (undisclosed) has been activated off injured reserve and will play Wednesday versus the Rangers.

DeKeyser has been out for three weeks, so he may be eased back into action, though he's still expected to play a top-four role. Jordan Oesterle will exit the lineup to make room for DeKeyser, who has six assists, 50 shots on net, 80 blocked shots and a minus-12 rating in 43 appearances this season.

DeKeyser (undisclosed) could rejoin the lineup for Wednesday's matchup with the Rangers, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Designated for IR

DeKeyser was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with an undisclosed injury.

The move comes as a bit of a surprise considering DeKeyser was waived by the team Monday, but he apparently sustained an undisclosed injury since then. Still, the fact that DeKeyser cleared waivers likely means he'll be headed down to AHL Grand Rapids.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Mixed results Saturday

DeKeyser registered an assist but was minus-3 in Saturday's 10-7 loss to the Maple Leafs.

DeKeyser's role continues to diminish as injuries have gotten in the way and the Wings rely more on the likes of Marc Staal and Nick Leddy at left defense.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Offensive production halted

DeKeyser is currently listed as a top-pairing defenseman, but he has only three points -- all assists -- through 34 games this season.

It's been tough sledding for DeKeyser over the past couple of seasons. The veteran rearguard has been bogged down by lower-body and back injuries, plus he missed time in COVID-19 protocols early on this campaign. DeKeyser's top defensive assignment with prized rookie Moritz Seider looks good on paper, but he has evolved into more of a stay-at-home type. It's safe to pass over him in fantasy leagues.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Secures helper in big loss

DeKeyser registered an assist Sunday, but the Red Wings suffered a 5-1 loss to the Bruins.

Points have been few and far between for DeKeyser, as the veteran blueliner has just three helpers comprising his total through 27 games this season. Still, he capitalized on an offensive opportunity while sharing the ice with captain Dylan Larkin and Tyler Bertuzzi, who was Detroit's lone goal scorer against the Bruins.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Performs reasonably well Friday

DeKeyser managed a plus-1 rating in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Avalanche.

While DeKeyser hasn't done nearly enough to draw attention in fantasy leagues, it was good to see him rebound in this one. After all, the blueliner had a minus-2 rating against the Predators and he was minus-3 versus the Blues, with his poor play negatively contributing to a pair of team losses heading into Friday's clash with the Avalanche. The Wings have had DeKeyser on the books for a whopping $5 million AAV since the start of the 2016-17 campaign, but he'll almost assuredly walk next summer as an unrestricted free agent. He's managed only two assists through 22 games this season, albeit with 17 hits and 44 blocked shots.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Sitting as healthy scratch

DeKeyser will be a healthy scratch Saturday versus the Islanders.

DeKeyser cleared COVID-19 protocols Friday, but there was no indication he needed to work on fitness, so this is just a healthy scratch. The blueliner will have a chance to return Tuesday versus the Predators. Jordan Oesterle remains in the Red Wings' lineup.

DeKeyser (COVID-19 protocols) missed practice Friday, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

The Red Wings have not disclosed the results of DeKeyser's test, so it's tough to gauge how much time the defenseman will miss. Dan Renouf is projected to the occupy the left defenseman spot on the third pairing for Saturday's clash with the Sabres.

  • Red Wings' Danny DeKeyser: Watches from press box

DeKeyser was a healthy scratch Thursday evening when the Red Wings suffered a 5-1 loss to the Bruins, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.

DeKeyser registered an assist in the season opener only to be held off the scoresheet entirely in the nine games that followed. The Wings aren't relying on the Detroit native nearly as much as they did under the direction of GM Ken Holland, who is now an executive for the Oilers, and a lot it has to do with the emergence of phenom Moritz Seider and the offseason addition of veteran rearguard Nick Leddy.
