Sharks' Barclay Goodrow: Scores shortie in overtime loss
Goodrow scored a shorthanded goal on two shots and added three hits in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to the Blues.
Goodrow capitalized on a misplay by the Blues, tallying the Sharks' fourth and final goal at 17:37 of the second period. The 31-year-old was waived by the Rangers in June and scooped up by the Sharks -- the team he began his career with back in 2014-15. His 12 points in 80 regular-season games last year represented his lowest output over the course of a full campaign. He may be more productive in 2024-25, but Goodrow is more likely to chip in hits and PIM than points on a regular basis.

Sharks' Barclay Goodrow: Claimed off waivers
Goodrow was claimed off waivers by the Sharks from the Rangers on Wednesday, per Chris Johnston of The Athletic.
Goodrow recorded 33 points in 2021-22 and 31 points in 2022-23, but he declined this campaign to four goals and 12 points across 80 regular-season appearances. The 31-year-old was still a physical presence, though, recording 78 PIM and 171 hits. He also stepped up in the 2024 playoffs, supplying six goals, eight points, 12 PIM, 41 hits and 29 blocks in 16 outings. He figures to serve in a third-line capacity for San Jose, which is the franchise where he made his NHL debut back in 2014. The Sharks will also be taking the final three seasons of his six-year, $21.85 million contract.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Hits waivers
Goodrow was placed on waivers Tuesday, Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet reports.
If Goodrow is not claimed by another team, the Rangers could bury his contract in the minors or buy out the final three seasons of his six-year, $21.85 million contract. The 31-year-old forward produced four goals, eight assists, 78 PIM, 86 blocked shots and 170 hits in 80 games during the 2023-24 regular season. He also contributed six goals, eight points, 29 blocks and 41 hits across 16 outings during the 2024 playoffs.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Tallies twice Sunday
Goodrow scored two goals, including one while shorthanded, in Sunday's 5-4 overtime win over the Panthers in Game 3.
Goodrow added two hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's win, which put the Rangers up 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals. His playoff experience is shining through with five goals over his last six games despite a limited bottom-six role. Goodrow has six tallies, two assists, 14 shots on net, 32 hits, 25 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 13 playoff appearances. He can't sustain this scoring pace over a longer stretch, but his defensive work is more than enough to keep him in the lineup.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Scores game-winner
Goodrow sniped the game-winning goal in Friday's 2-1 overtime win versus the Panthers in Game 2.
Goodrow was the hero Friday night at Madison Square Garden -- he beat Florida's Sergei Bobrovsky on the blocker side in overtime to send the series back to Sunrise even at one game apiece. Goodrow added two shots, four blocks, five hits and a plus-1 rating in 14:38 of ice time to round out a great performance. Goodrow has been a pleasant surprise for New York offensively recently with three goals in his last five games. The 31-year-old has six points (four goals) in 12 postseason contests so far.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Finds twine in loss
Goodrow scored a goal on two shots in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 4.
Goodrow netted a second-period goal to snap a four-game point drought. The 31-year-old forward has two goals, two assists, eight shots on net, 17 hits, 16 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-1 rating through eight playoff contests. There's not much glory in his fourth-line role, but Goodrow is a two-time champion who brings veteran reliability to the Rangers' lineup.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Opens playoffs with two apples
Goodrow had two assists during Sunday's 4-1 victory over Washington in Game 1.
Despite his reputation as a playoff performer, Goodrow has never shown huge offensive production in the postseason. His career-best mark is six points in 25 games during Tampa Bay's 2020 run to the Cup. Two points and a plus-2 rating in the postseason opener is a solid start for the fourth-line forward.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Pots pair in win
Goodrow found the back of the net twice in Friday's 4-3 win over the Red Wings.
With only two goals on the season prior to the contest, Goodrow sniped two for the Rangers on Friday to help the team earn its sixth win in its past seven games. He added three shots on net, one hit, two PIM, one blocked shot and a plus-2 rating in 15:28 of ice time. Goodrow's offensive contributions against Detroit were atypical, as he has only 12 total points in 75 games played on the season. The fourth-line center contributes in other ways, however, primarily as a defensive specialist.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Delivers helper in shutout
Goodrow notched an assist in Saturday's 4-0 win over the Blues.
Goodrow's helper took place in a 5-on-5 setting, but he actually saw a season-high 33 seconds of power-play ice time in this one. The Blueshirts were in full control of the game, so they could afford to experiment in the home tilt, especially since fellow pivot Alexander Wennberg and top-six winger Jack Roslovic were making their debuts on Broadway after being acquired from the Kraken and Blue Jackets, respectively. Goodrow is hanging onto a fourth-line role as the owner of one goal, eight assists and a minus-8 rating through 61 contests.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Two helpers in Wednesday's win
Goodrow picked up two assists in Wednesday's 3-1 win over the Lightning.
He had the primary helper on both of Jimmy Vesey's tallies as the Rangers' checking lines carried the offense. Goodrow snapped a 10-game point drought with the performance, but he's still mired in a 33-game goal drought. After being a reliable source of 30-plus points in his first two campaigns with New York, the 30-year-old has only one goal and seven points in 49 games this season.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Point drought hits double digits
Goodrow had one shot on goal, two hits and a minus-1 rating in Monday's 2-1 overtime win over the Avalanche as his point drought reached 10 games.
Goodrow's in the lineup primarily for his physicality and penalty killing, but more offense wouldn't hurt. He has just one assist in his last 22 games and a single goal through 48 appearances this season. Goodrow had at least 11 goals and 31 points in each of his first two seasons on Broadway, but age appears to be catching up to the veteran forward, who will turn 31 later this month.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Mired in scoring slump
Goodrow posted a blocked shot, a hit and a plus-1 rating but saw his point drought reach nine games in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Blackhawks.
Perhaps the face shield Goodrow has been wearing since taking a puck to the face Dec. 5 in Ottawa is obstructing his vision, as he has just one assist over the past month. Then again, he wasn't exactly on a prolific scoring pace before that point, mustering only one goal and two assists in 22 games prior to the incident. Goodrow's contributions on the penalty kill keep him in the lineup, but he has been nearly invisible in the offensive zone after reaching the 10-goal and 30-point marks in each of his first two seasons with the Rangers.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Hurt in Tuesday's game
Goodrow (upper body) will not return to Tuesday's game versus the Senators.
Goodrow was hurt in the first period after he took a puck to the face. He can be considered day-to-day. Goodrow may benefit from the Rangers having a gap in their schedule, as their next game is Saturday versus the Capitals.

Rangers' Barclay Goodrow: Puts bow on scoring
Goodrow scored a goal in Monday's 6-3 road loss against the Stars.
After a pair of empty-net goals by the Stars to put the game out of reach, Goodrow scored with just 16 seconds left in regulation for his first goal of the season.
