Blackhawks' Lucas Wallmark: Traded to Panthers
Wallmark was traded to Florida along with Lucas Carlsson in exchange for Brett Connolly, Riley Stillman, Henrik Borgstrom and a seventh-round pick on Thursday, Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic reports.
This was primarily a cap dump for the Panthers, who will now be free to explore some high-end options on the trade market with Connolly's $3.5 million cap hit no longer on the books. Wallmark has only drawn into 16 games with the Blackhawks this season, picking up three helpers over that span. The 25-year-old forward will likely report to Florida's taxi squad once he completes his mandatory quarantine.

Wallmark was removed from the NHL's COVID-19 protocols list Wednesday.
Although Wallmark's been removed from the protocols list, he'll still need to be added to the Blackhawks' active roster before returning to game action, which likely won't happen until he's participated in a handful or practices. Blackhawks' Lucas Wallmark: Bags assist
Wallmark collected an assist in Friday's 4-1 win over the Red Wings.
Wallmark picked up the secondary helper on Mattias Janmark's shorthanded empty-net tally in the third period. That gave Wallmark three assists in his last two contests, which accounts for all of his offense so far. The Swede had 25 points in 67 outings split between the Panthers and the Hurricanes in 2019-20 -- there's some potential in the 25-year-old, who also had 57 hits last year.

Wallmark was acquired by the Panthers as part of the return for Vincent Trocheck at the trade deadline in February. The 25-year-old Wallmark didn't make much of an impact with his new team, registering two points in seven appearances after the trade. He's produced at least 25 points in each of the last two seasons and should garner some interest.

Hurricanes' Lucas Wallmark: Ice time dwindling
Wallmark skated a season-low 6:59 in Sunday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers.
Wallmark has now failed to register a point in 10 straight contests -- that's a four-week stretch dating back to Jan. 16 against the Blue Jackets. Not even a recent one-game stint as a healthy scratch Feb. 4 seems to have lit a fire under him. Once Jordan Martinook returns from an upper-body injury, you could see Wallmark watching more games from the press box. He should not be in anyone's fantasy lineup right now.
