  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Makes season debut

Hutton had one shot on goal and one blocked shot over 13:18 of ice time in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Oilers.

Hutton drew into the lineup on short notice since Nicolas Hague (undisclosed) was a late scratch. When Hague was out late in October, Kaedan Korczak got the first look as a fill-in blueliner. Hutton is used to such a role by now -- he's filled it for the better part of his three years in Vegas, accumulating 31 points over 130 contests in that span. Injuries to other players have allowed him to play in over half the games in two of those three seasons, but Vegas has had fairly good health early in 2024-25, so Hutton's opportunities to play are limited.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Sends two helpers in win

Hutton recorded two assists, three hits, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Tuesday's 6-1 preseason win over the Avalanche.

Hutton is making a good impression this preseason with four helpers over three appearances. The 31-year-old defenseman is unlikely to be a regular for Vegas, but he has plenty of experience as a seventh defenseman, which is the role he's filled for Vegas over the last three years. In his time with the team, he's produced 31 points in 130 contests while filling in whenever injuries arise. He may have some competition from Kaedan Korczak for that role in 2024-25.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Tickles twine

Hutton scored a goal on three shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Lightning.

This was Hutton's second game in a row in the lineup after a stretch of 29 straight absences, 16 of which were due to an upper-body injury. With the Golden Knights fading, head coach Bruce Cassidy has turned to the veteran Hutton over Zach Whitecloud for a third-pairing role. Hutton has two goals, 10 points, 53 shots on net, 46 blocked shots and a plus-6 rating through 33 appearances, but he'll need to be good in all zones to stay in the lineup.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: No path to playing time

Hutton has not played since he was activated from injured reserve Feb. 12.

Hutton is stuck in the unenviable role of a seventh defenseman. He nearly had a chance to get in the lineup when Alec Martinez (undisclosed) went on injured reserve, but the Golden Knights' trade for Noah Hanifin closed that door quickly. Hutton hasn't played in 2024 and has nine points through 31 outings this season.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Removed from IR

Hutton (upper body) was activated from injured reserve Monday, per CapFriendly.

Hutton was activated before Monday's contest against Minnesota but ended up being a healthy scratch. The 30-year-old has now been absent for 16 straight games, but he could get back in the lineup soon. Hutton has nine points in 31 games this season. He is unlikely to see more than a bottom-four role.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Put on injured reserve

Hutton (upper body) was placed on injured reserve Thursday, per the NHL media site.

Hutton hasn't played since last Thursday, so he's eligible to be activated before Saturday's contest versus the Islanders. In the meantime, Brayden Pachal might remain in the lineup against the Panthers on Thursday. Hutton has a goal and nine points in 31 appearances in 2023-24.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Leaves Thursday's game early

Hutton suffered an upper-body injury in Thursday's game versus the Kings, Danny Webster of the Las Vegas Sun reports.

Hutton logged just 6:37 of ice time prior to the injury, blocking three shots. The 30-year-old should be considered day-to-day ahead of Monday's Winter Classic in Seattle. If Hutton can't play, Brayden Pachal figures to enter the lineup on the third pairing for his first game action since Dec. 15.

Hutton notched an assist and two PIM in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Panthers.

Hutton is fresh off of signing a two-year contract extension Friday, solidifying his place as a bottom-four defenseman on a contender. • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Inks two-year extension

Hutton signed a two-year, $1.95 million contract extension with Vegas on Friday.

Hutton has a goal, eight points, nine hits and 37 blocks in 28 contests this season. The 30-year-old's been a decent bottom-four option for the Golden Knights and has also seen time on the second power-play unit. Hutton, who is in the second season of a two-year, $1.7 million deal, could have become an unrestricted free agent this summer if he didn't agree to an extension.

Hutton logged an assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 5-4 loss to the Lightning.

Hutton has been effective on offense lately with four helpers over his last six games. The 30-year-old continues to maintain a bottom-four spot in the lineup, which has kept Brayden Pachal in the press box as a healthy scratch. Hutton is up to eight points, 45 shots on net, 37 blocked shots, 15 PIM and a plus-7 rating through 28 appearances.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Earns pair of assists

Hutton logged two assists, two blocked shots and two PIM in Sunday's 6-3 win over the Senators.

Hutton helped out on a Jack Eichel goal in the first period as well as Nicolas Roy's power-play marker in the second. This was Hutton's first multi-point effort of the season, and he's racked up four helpers over eight games in December. The 30-year-old remained in the lineup with Alec Martinez returning from a lower-body injury, but Hutton could get shuffled out when Kaedan Korczak (lower body) is healthy. Hutton has six points, 41 shots on net, 33 blocks and a plus-4 rating over 26 appearances.

Hutton notched an assist and three shots on goal in Sunday's 5-4 shootout win over the Sharks.

Hutton set up a Jonathan Marchessault tally in the second period to tie the game at 1-1. While he's listed on the top pairing, Hutton saw just 15:13 of ice time in this contest. If Kaedan Korczak's lower-body injury costs him time, Hutton could see his minutes rise again going forward. Through 23 outings this season, Hutton has five points, 41 shots on net, 31 blocked shots, 13 PIM and a plus-6 rating.

Hutton logged an assist and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Capitals.

Hutton made the breakout pass to set up Jack Eichel's breakaway tally in the second period. This was Hutton's second point over the last three games. The 30-year-old defenseman can be useful on offense in short stretches, but he's unlikely to be a consistent contributor. He's at four points, 32 shots on net, 21 blocked shots and a plus-7 rating through 19 outings this season.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Tallies in Tuesday's shootout loss

Hutton scored a goal on two shots, added two hits and blocked three shots in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout loss to the Oilers.

Hutton sparked the Golden Knights' comeback in the third period, scoring with 6:30 left in regulation. The 30-year-old has played in 12 of 13 games in November, and he's got some short-term job stability with Shea Theodore (upper body) and Alec Martinez (lower body) both sidelined. Hutton is up to three points, 28 shots on net, 20 blocked shots, 11 PIM and a plus-5 rating through 17 appearances this season, mainly in a bottom-four role.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Manages helper

Hutton notched an assist in Thursday's 5-2 win over the Jets.

Hutton helped out on William Karlsson's opening tally in the first period. This was Hutton's first game since Oct. 19 -- he's been a frequent healthy scratch, but Kaedan Korczak was designated to sit out Thursday. Hutton has two assists, nine shots on net, seven blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over six outings this season. He's a fine veteran fill-in on the third pairing, but he won't play consistently enough to justify consideration in fantasy.

  • Golden Knights' Ben Hutton: Registers assist Thursday

Hutton notched an assist, three shots on goal and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Sharks.

Hutton was credited with the secondary helper on Nicolas Roy's goal late in the third period. While he was a semi-regular member of the lineup last season, Hutton drew into just two playoff contests in the Golden Knights' run to the Stanley Cup. The defenseman produced eight points in 31 outings in 2022-23. The 30-year-old should remain in a third-pairing role at least until one of Alec Martinez or Zach Whitecloud gets cleared to return to the lineup.

Hutton notched an assist in Monday's 4-3 shootout win over the Wild.

Hutton has played in three straight games, picking up a goal and three helpers over that span. The 29-year-old defenseman has often been the emergency depth option on the Golden Knights' blue line, so he's had little chance to build momentum even when he plays. For the season, he's at seven points, 47 shots on net, 28 blocked shots and 14 hits through 26 contests.
