Jonathan Dahlen: Hitting open market
Dahlen didn't receive a qualifying offer from the Sharks, so he'll become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, Curtis Pashelka of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Dahlen was essentially a regular in San Jose's lineup in 2021-22, picking up 12 goals and 22 points while averaging 13:48 of ice time through 61 contests, so this news comes as a bit of a surprise. The 24-year-old Dahlen shouldn't have much trouble landing a new deal with a different NHL organization as a solid bottom-six option once free agency opens Wednesday.

Sharks' Jonathan Dahlen: Could play Wednesday
Dahlen (face) may be an option against the Coyotes on Wednesday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
After missing the previous three contests due to his facial injury, Dahlen appears poised to jump back into the lineup. If the 24-year-old winger does rejoin the lineup, it would likely be in a bottom-six role, which would likely limit his minutes and opportunities to generate fantasy value.

Sharks' Jonathan Dahlen: Not ready to return
Dahlen (face) will not be an option against Anaheim on Saturday, Sheng Peng of San Jose Hockey Now reports.
According to Peng's report, Dahlen is unlikely to be ready in time to suit up against Arizona on Wednesday, either. Prior to his absence, the winger was stuck in a four-game pointless streak during which he recorded just one shot. With Logan Couture (upper body) also sidelined, the team was forced to call up Lane Pederson for Saturday's matchup.

Dahlen scored a goal on two shots and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Kings.
Dahlen has a goal and an assist in his last two outings, showing more quality on offense since returning from an upper-body injury. The Swede has 12 goals, 22 points, 94 shots on net and a minus-17 rating through 48 contests. He should see a top-six role most of the time, but he'll need to stay consistent to avoid slipping down the lineup.

Sharks' Jonathan Dahlen: Ruled out Tuesday
Dahlen is dealing with the effects of a crosscheck that has caused "whiplash-like" problems according to coach Bob Boughner. He will be unavailable versus Vegas on Tuesday, Corey Masisak of The Athletic reports.
Dahlen is mired in a seven-game goal drought dating back to Jan. 29 versus the Panthers, registering nine shots over that stretch. With the 24-year-old winger sidelined, Andrew Cogliano (personal) will slot back into the lineup in a fourth-line role.

Sharks' Jonathan Dahlen: Three goals in last two games
Dahlen scored twice in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss to Florida.
Both came on the power play. The first put the Sharks up 2-0 at the 17:17 mark of the first, and then he made it 4-2 Sharks at 4:50 of the third with a high wrist shot from the right circle. Dahlen has three goals in his last two games, but unfortunately just two assists in his previous 14 games. He's young and has been in a rookie rut, but Dahlen still has 11 goals and 19 points in 39 games, which bodes well for a solid fantasy future.

Sharks' Jonathan Dahlen: Contributes pair of assists
Dahlen notched two assists, including one on the power play, in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime win over the Red Wings.
Dahlen set up Timo Meier's first-period tally and also had a hand in Logan Couture's game-winning goal in overtime. The 24-year-old Dahlen snapped an eight-game point drought with the pair of assists. It's not unusual for a rookie to have his ups and downs throughout the season. The Swede is at 16 points, 65 shots on net and a minus-4 rating in 32 contests overall. Given the Sharks' lack of talent down the lineup, Dahlen should maintain a top-six role.

Dahlen scored a goal on six shots and supplied a power-play assist in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Wild.

He's up to eight goals, six assists, 47 shots on net and a plus-2 rating in 23 contests. He continues to see a top-line role, and it's been well-earned lately as he has five points in his last five outings.
