The 28-year-old blueliner took a feed from David Pastrnak and beat Darcy Kuemper with a backhander just 39 seconds into the extra frame. It was McAvoy's first game-winning goal of the season, and it continued a hot streak that has seen him rack up five goals and 21 points over the last 18 games.

Bruins' Charlie McAvoy: Pair of points in loss

McAvoy's nine-game point streak was snapped by the Penguins on Tuesday, but he bounced back with a multi-point effort. McAvoy will be a game-time decision versus Columbus on Thursday, Scott McLaughlin of WEEI reports.
According to head coach Marco Sturm, the expectation is that McAvoy will suit up Thursday, but there hasn't been a final decision yet. As such, fantasy managers will need to take a wait-and-see approach to utilizing the defenseman against the Blue Jackets. McAvoy registered two assists, including one on the power play, and added four PIM, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Sunday's 6-5 shootout loss to the Lightning in the Stadium Series.
McAvoy has gotten on the scoresheet in 14 of his last 16 games, earning three goals and 16 helpers in that span. The 28-year-old is still wearing extra face protection to prevent damage to the injury he sustained versus Montreal on Nov. 15, but it hasn't disrupted his vision or slowed him down on offense. For the season, the blueliner is at four goals, 34 assists, 16 power-play points, 66 shots on net, 55 hits, 83 blocked shots, 44 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 44 contests.

Bruins' Charlie McAvoy: Hat trick of helpers Saturday
McAvoy dished out three assists, blocked two shots and recorded two hits in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.
McAvoy played a hand in each of the final three goals scored by the Bruins, including when he slid the primary helper on Morgan Geekie's go-ahead goal in the back half of the third period. Overall, McAvoy is up to 29 assists, 33 points, 58 shots on goal, 52 hits and 78 blocks across 40 games this season. Since Dec. 31, the 28-year-old blueliner is tied for sixth among NHL defensemen with 14 points. He also ranks in the top 15 in blocked shots with 26. Boston's top blueliner remains a category-coverage machine when it comes to fantasy, giving McAvoy elite value down the stretch in most league formats.

McAvoy scored a power-play goal on four shots, blocked three shots and added two hits in Thursday's 4-3 win over the Golden Knights.
McAvoy sparked a run of three goals in 54 seconds during the middle of the first period. He's had an excellent January, earning three goals and seven assists over 10 contests this month. For the season, the top-pairing defenseman has 30 points (four goals, 26 helpers), 58 shots on net, 50 hits, 76 blocked shots, 36 PIM and a plus-3 rating through 39 outings. That'd be a 60-point pace over a full season, but time lost due to injury will likely limit McAvoy to the 45-50 point range this season if he can stay healthy the rest of the way.

McAvoy had a hand in Boston's lone goal of the game, which was netted by Pavel Zacha on a first-period power play. The apple brings McAvoy up to 16 assists, 33 shots on net, 30 hits and 40 blocks through 23 games this season. The power-play assist was the 27-year-old blueliner's second across four games since his return from a facial injury. When he's been in the lineup, McAvoy has performed well in each area of the game outside of finding the back of the net. He has already matched his assist output through 50 games a year ago and could be trending toward another 40-point season if he can stay healthy. The all-around play from Boston's top defenseman gives him strong value in nearly all fantasy formats moving forward.

McAvoy (face) will travel with the Bruins ahead of their three-game road trip that begins Tuesday in St. Louis, and he hopes to return at some point during the trip, Scott McLaughlin of WEEI reports.
McAvoy has been sidelined since mid-November after being hit in the face by a slap shot against the Canadiens on Nov. 15. However, he resumed skating in late November and appears to be drawing closer to a return. McAvoy is still not close to a return, as he wore a full face shield as well as a jaw protector for the skate. Still, it is a positive sign for his recovery that he returned to the ice for the first time since undergoing surgery. He was struck in the face by a slap shot against Montreal on Nov. 15. McAvoy has 14 helpers, 32 blocked shots and 26 hits across 19 games this season.
