  • Panthers' Gustav Forsling: Buries goal in Monday's win

Forsling scored a goal on four shots in Monday's 6-5 win over the Oilers. The Oilers took a 4-2 lead midway through the second period, but Forsling's tally late in the frame sparked the Panthers' comeback. The defenseman has been limited to two goals over seven games in December, though he's added 28 shots on net to dramatically up his shot rate compared to the 48 shots he had over the first 25 contests of the season. Overall, the 28-year-old is at five tallies, 13 points, 76 shots, 29 blocked shots, 28 hits and a plus-16 rating through 32 appearances.

The 28-year-old defenseman tied the game at 5-5 in the third period after the Panthers squandered a 4-2 lead. He's up to four goals, 12 points, 53 shots on net, 25 hits, 23 blocked shots and a plus-15 rating over 27 appearances in a top-four role this season, though he still remains without a power-play role on a regular basis.

  • Panthers' Gustav Forsling: Logs helper

Forsling provided an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Blackhawks. Forsling has three helpers and a plus-3 rating over his last two contests, which has helped him to shake off a five-game dry spell. The 28-year-old blueliner remains in a prominent even-strength role for the Panthers, though he has seen minimal power-play time. Forsling is up to 11 points, 37 shots on net, 17 blocked shots, 15 hits, eight PIM and a plus-13 rating over 20 appearances. His current scoring pace would earn him his second 40-point campaign in three years if he can sustain it the rest of the way.

  • Panthers' Gustav Forsling: Shines in win

Forsling logged two assists, three shots on goal, two hits and a plus-4 rating in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Jets. Forsling set up Mackie Samoskevich on the opening goal and also had a shorthanded helper on Aleksander Barkov's goal in the second period. This was Forsling's first multi-point effort of the season, and it snapped his five-game skid. The defenseman has three goals, seven helpers, 34 shots on net, 14 hits, 14 blocked shots and a plus-14 rating over 18 outings this season. Forsling is a huge part of the Panthers' success, but the one knock on him for fantasy is a lack of power-play time.

Forsling scored a shorthanded empty-net goal in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Islanders. Forsling has cracked the scoresheet in four of his last five appearances, tallying two goals and two assists in that span.

  • Panthers' Gustav Forsling: Scores overtime game-winner

Forsling scored the game-winning goal on six shots and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-3 overtime win over the Golden Knights. The six shots were a season high for Forsling, who also logged 28:07 of ice time despite the Panthers dressing seven defensemen. The 28-year-old is off to an excellent start this season, producing two goals, two assists, a plus-9 rating, 14 shots on net, five blocked shots and four hits over seven contests. He's recorded at least 37 points in three straight regular seasons, and while Forsling sees minimal power-play time, he more than makes up for it with steady even-strength offense.

  • Panthers' Gustav Forsling: Tallies lone goal in loss

Forsling scored a goal on two shots in Thursday's 3-1 loss to the Senators. Forsling got the Panthers on the board in the second period. The defenseman has added a plus-4 rating and four shots on net through two contests while seeing time on the top pairing at even strength. He wasn't in the power-play mix Thursday, with Uvis Balinskis instead getting time with the man advantage. Florida's offense is a strong one, so Forsling should have no trouble contributing, but the lack of a power-play role lowers his scoring ceiling for fantasy purposes.

  • Panthers' Gustav Forsling: Growth in game on full display

Forsling picked up two assists in a 5-1 win over the Flames on Saturday. Forsling got the primary helper on goals 1:43 apart in the second period. He has 34 points, including 10 goals, in 64 games this season and has delivered 34 or more points in three consecutive campaigns. It's an impressive evolution for Forsling, who came to the Panthers after being claimed off waivers from the Hurricanes in Jan. 2021. Now, he has become one of the most complete defenders in the NHL, a difference-making penalty killer as well as the team's leading scorer from the back end. He also leads the NHL with a plus-47 rating, some 14 points better than second-place Quinn Hughes. That kind of steady performance is valuable in many formats.
