Red Wings' Alex Lyon: Hangs on for third win
Lyon made 22 saves in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Islanders.
The Red Wings were unable to solve Ilya Sorokin until the final five minutes of the third period, but Lyon kept them in the game until then and got rewarded with the comeback win. Despite his recent struggles, the team will go back to the 31-year-old for Thursday's matchup, which likely means fantasy players can expect to see Cam Talbot between the home pipes against the Bruins on Saturday.

Red Wings' Alex Lyon: Tending twine Friday
Lyon will guard the cage on the road against the Maple Leafs on Friday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Lyon is currently stuck in a two-game losing streak in which he gave up 10 goals on 67 shots (.851 save percentage) and has had to watch Cam Talbot start the Wings' last two contests. A matchup with the star-studded Leafs -- though Auston Matthews (upper body) is a doubt -- isn't exactly the best way to get Lyon back on track, but Detroit's back-to-back, with the Rangers at home Saturday, didn't leave the coaching staff with any good options.

Red Wings' Alex Lyon: Thumped by Jets
Lyon made 23 saves in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to Winnipeg.
The Jets grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first period and never trailed in the game, saddling Lyon with his second straight loss and third of the season. The veteran goalie saw a heavy workload early but appears to have fallen back into a timeshare with Cam Talbot -- and he may not be done falling, having allowed 10 goals on 47 shots over his last two starts. Despite those stumbles, Lyon still has a 2.78 GAA and .916 save percentage in six appearances.

Red Wings' Alex Lyon: Bounced by Buffalo
Lyon stopped 34 of 38 shots in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Sabres, with Buffalo's final goal getting scored into an empty net.
The 31-year-old netminder has started three of the last four games for Detroit, but Lyon gave up more than three goals Saturday for the first time this season. He had little chance on any of them, and the game-winner came on a Bowen Byram point shot that Lyon stopped, only for the rebound to deflect in off the back of Jeff Petry's leg. Lyon has a 2-2-0 record, 2.05 GAA and .940 save percentage through five appearances, and for now he appears to have a slight edge over Cam Talbot for playing time in the Wings' crease.

In his previous start, also versus New York, the 31-year-old Lyon stopped 24 of 27 shots in a losing effort. If he can put together a strong performance, Lyon might be capable of prying the starting gig away from Talbot.

It's unclear who will start Saturday at Nashville. Lyon has stopped 39 of 42 shots across two appearances this season, posting a 0-1-0 record with a 2.12 GAA and a .929 save percentage.

Red Wings' Alex Lyon: Falls to Blueshirts
Lyon stopped 24 of 27 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Rangers, with New York's final goal getting scored into an empty net.
in his first action of the season, Lyon got beaten once in each period, with Chris Kreider's power-play tally in the second proving to be the game-winner. Detroit has used a different goalie in each of its first three games of the season, which doesn't bode well for any of their workloads, but with Ville Husso now at AHL Grand Rapids after clearing waivers, Lyon could work in more of a timeshare with Cam Talbot in the short term.
