Byfield scored a goal on four shots in Friday's 3-2 shootout loss to the Ducks.
Byfield has four goals and three assists over nine outings in January. The 23-year-old center is up to nine goals, 28 points, 103 shots on net, 32 hits, 25 blocked shots, 22 PIM and an even plus-minus rating through 46 appearances. Byfield continues to handle top-six minutes and should be able to improve his scoring numbers, as he's shooting just 8.7 percent so far in 2025-26.

Byfield scored a power-play goal on four shots while also blocking a shot during Monday's 3-1 loss to Dallas.
Byfield has been on a hot streak early in the calendar year, as he's generated points in five of his last six appearances, while Monday's goal was his second in the last three games. The 23-year-old will have to have a solid second half of the season if he hopes to reach the 20-goal threshold for a third consecutive year, as he's now up to eight through 44 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign. However, Byfield remains heavily involved on the power play, and he's already matched his 2024-25 total of three tallies with the man advantage.

Byfield scored a goal on three shots in Friday's 5-1 loss to the Jets.
Byfield prevented an Eric Comrie shutout midway through the second period, but the Kings weren't able to build on his goal. Byfield collected his second multi-point effort in the last four games. Byfield went quiet in the middle of the series with no points from Game 3 to Game 5. He struck early Thursday, but the Oilers had a 3-2 lead after one period and led the rest of the way. Byfield finished this postseason with four points, 18 shots on net, 14 hits and a minus-7 rating over six appearances. He's just 22 years old, so he has plenty of time to continue growing his game, which will eventually need to include finding another level in the playoffs.

Byfield gave the Kings a 2-0 lead with his tally early in the second period. While he's listed in a middle-six role, Byfield has topped 22 minutes of ice time in both postseason contests so far.
