Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: In doubt for Saturday
Kochetkov (undisclosed) may not be available against the Senators on Saturday, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
It's bad timing for the Hurricanes, as in addition to Kochetkov, they are already without Frederik Andersen (lower body). Even if Kochetkov is cleared to play, the team may opt to have him take the second game of the back-to-back versus the Blues on Sunday just to give him some more time to recover. If he can't go at all, the team will need to recall a backstop from the minors and could be forced to use Spencer Martin in both ends of the back-to-back.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Exits in third period
Kochetkov (undisclosed) exited Wednesday's game versus Utah in the third period, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Kochetkov appeared to be injured on Utah's second goal, but he stayed in a while longer. He allowed a total of three goals on 18 shots, and one more potential tally was overturned on a review. If Kochetkov is out beyond Wednesday's game, the Hurricanes will need to make a roster move, as Spencer Martin is the only other healthy goalie on the roster.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Draws start Wednesday
Kochetkov was the first goalie off Wednesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports, indicating he'll start on the road against Utah.
Kochetkov has been hot lately, picking up wins in each of his last seven starts while posting a 2.28 GAA and .911 save percentage during that time. He'll start in a second consecutive game Wednesday and has a favorable matchup against Utah, who has averaged just 2.73 goals per game this season.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Impressive in win Monday
Kochetkov stopped 30 of 32 shots in Monday's 5-2 win over the Golden Knights.
It wouldn't be a stretch to say Kochetkov has been one of the best goaltenders in the NHL over the last few weeks, and the numbers undoubtedly back that up. He's won each of his last seven starts while posting a 2.28 GAA and a strong .911 save percentage in that stretch. Plus, Kochetkov has allowed two or fewer goals in five of those seven contests.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Set to start Monday
Kochetkov was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports, indicating he will guard the road goal versus Vegas on Monday.
Kochetkov has won his last six starts, stopping 133 of 147 shots. He has a 7-1-0 record with a 2.51 GAA and an .896 save percentage over eight appearances this season. Vegas ranks second in the league with 4.36 goals per game in 2024-25.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Busy in Thursday's win
Kochetkov stopped 35 shots in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Penguins.
Carolina got out-shot 36-18 on the night -- the biggest volume Kochetkov has faced so far in 2024-25 -- but the 25-year-old netminder made sure the result was never in doubt and took a shutout into the third period, only for Blake Lizotte to spoil it. The Hurricanes have won eight straight games and Kochetkov has been between the pipes for six of them, posting a 2.33 GAA and .905 save percentage over that stretch.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Set to start versus Pens
Kochetkov is slated to tend the twine at home against Pittsburgh on Thursday.
Kochetkov will make his fifth consecutive appearance in the crease and is riding a five-game winning streak in which he posted a 2.59 GAA and .883 save percentage. As long as Frederik Andersen (lower body) remains on the shelf, the 25-year-old Kochetkov should continue to see the majority of the starts -- especially considering the Canes don't have a back-to-back on the schedule until they face the Senators and Blues on Nov. 16 and 17, respectively.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Carries to win by offense
Kochetkov made 12 saves in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Flyers.
It was far from a sharp performance from Kochetkov, who likely wants another crack at Travis Konecny's third-period tally that tied the score at 4-4, but the Carolina offense came out on top in the end. Kochetkov has started four straight games, winning all four with a 2.74 GAA but an .861 save percentage, and he might be due for a breather Thursday at home against the Penguins. With Frederik Andersen (lower body) still sidelined, Spencer Martin could see his first action of the season instead.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: In net versus Philadelphia
Kochetkov will draw the home start in Tuesday's divisional tilt against the Flyers, per Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Kochetkov has won four consecutive outings, and he's allowed more than two goals in a game just once during that span. The Hurricanes have done a great job of limiting scoring opportunities in front of him -- Kochetkov has faced more than 30 shots once this season through six appearances. Overall, Kochetkov is up to a 5-1-0 record with an .893 save percentage and a 2.51 GAA.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Extends win streak Sunday
Kochetkov turned aside 19 of 21 shots in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Capitals.
Kochetkov had a light workload in Sunday's win as a result of Carolina outshooting Washington by a count of 45 to 21. The 25-year-old netminder is riding a four-game win streak, and he's allowed exactly two goals in three of those contests. Kochetkov has posted a 5-1-0 record, .893 save percentage and 2.51 GAA across six appearances.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Guarding goal Sunday
Kochetkov will protect the home net Sunday against Washington, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Kochetkov has won his past three outings, stopping 67 of 74 shots. He has a 4-1-0 record with a 2.61 GAA and an .891 save percentage through five appearances this season. Washington ranks third in the league with 4.40 goals per game in 2024-25.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Cruises to easy win Thursday
Kochetkov made 13 saves in Thursday's 8-2 rout of the Bruins.
The ice was tilted all night, and Kochetkov faced exactly five shots in each period while Carolina's offense went wild. The 25-year-old netminder should see a heavy workload while Frederik Andersen (lower body) is sidelined, but Kochetkov's value in fantasy formats that reward bulk saves could be muted even in a starting role due to the Hurricanes' suffocating defense -- he's 4-1-0 to begin the season with a 2.61 GAA in five appearances, but he has just an .891 save percentage and has faced fewer than 20 shots in two of those outings.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Patrolling crease versus Bruins
Kochetkov will tend the twine at home against Boston on Thursday, Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.
Kochetkov will make consecutive starts for the first time this season after Frederik Andersen (lower body) was deemed week-to-week. Looking ahead, the 25-year-old Kochetkov figures to carry the load for the Canes while Spencer Martin serves as the No. 2 option. In his four outings this year, Kochetkov is 3-1-0 with a 2.76 GAA and .894 save percentage.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Earns OT win Monday
Kochetkov stopped 24 of 27 shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Canucks.
Kochetkov looked en route to securing an easy win, but things got complicated after he allowed two goals in the third period. Fortunately for him, Sebastian Aho scored the game-winning goal just 43 seconds into overtime, allowing the 25-year-old netminder to secure his third win of the campaign. The Hurricanes have been rotating between the pipes this season. Although Kochetkov is 3-1-0 through four appearances, his 2.76 GAA and .895 save percentage would be career-worst marks for him if sustained over the course of a full season.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Set to start against Vancouver
Kochetkov is slated to serve as the starting goaltender for Monday's road game against Vancouver, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Kochetkov will start for the fourth time over the Hurricanes' first eight games of the season. Across his previous three starts, he's logged a 2-1-0 record, 2.70 GAA and .896 save percentage. Frederik Andersen (lower body) is considered day-to-day, and even though Spencer Martin was called up Monday, Kochetkov could see a slight increase in playing time if Andersen is forced to miss multiple games.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Bounces back Thursday
Kochetkov stopped 30 of 32 shots in Thursday's 4-2 win over the Flames. He also recorded an assist in Eric Robinson's empty-net goal.
Kochetkov has been alternating with Frederik Andersen between the pipes, but the 25-year-old Russian netminder has been solid, all things considered. Even though he was woeful in the 4-3 loss to the Blues on Saturday, he's posted a save percentage above the .920 mark in his other two outings. He's gone 2-1-0 with a 2.70 GAA and a .896 save percentage across three starts, but his upside will remain limited as long as he continues to share the workload with Andersen, with the possibility of Kochetkov taking over as the full-time starter being slim at the moment.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: First goalie off Thursday
Kochetkov was the first goalie to leave the ice Thursday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports, indicating he'll tend the twine on the road versus the Flames.
Kochetkov and veteran Frederik Andersen have been going every other game to open the season, with the 25-year-old Kochetkov posting a 1-1-0 record and .867 save percentage in two games. If he continues to perform at a subpar level, Kochetkov could find himself watching from the bench as the No. 2 option more often.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Subpar outing Saturday
Kochetkov stopped 15 of 19 shots in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Blues.
Kochetkov was coming off a solid win in his season debut against the Devils on Oct. 15, but he didn't have his best outing against the Blues. The Hurricanes have been rotating goalies early in this campaign, so Frederik Andersen has a solid chance to return to the crease for Tuesday's road matchup at Edmonton.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Starting Saturday
Kochetkov will protect the road goal versus the Blues on Saturday, Lou Korac of NHL.com reports.
Kochetkov won his season debut, stopping 24 of 26 shots versus the Devils on Tuesday. The 25-year-old netminder has alternated starts with Frederik Andersen so far, and that arrangement could continue if both goalies play well. The Blues have scored just 13 goals over five games, so Kochetkov has a somewhat favorable matchup.

Hurricanes' Pyotr Kochetkov: Sharp in season debut
Kochetkov made 23 saves in his season debut in a 4-2 win over New Jersey on Tuesday.
He was sharp. Jack Hughes beat Kochetkov with a perfect low wrist shot off the rush early in the second period. And Nico Hischier roofed the puck at 15:16 of the third on a five-on-three power power play. Don't be surprised to see Kochetkov move into the starter's seat this season and perhaps never relinquish it. Frederik Andersen is talented, but so injury prone. And Kochetkov proved he was more than capable to start last season.
