Top Justin Robidas News

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: Dropped to AHL

Robidas was loaned to AHL Chicago on Saturday.

Robidas has one assist, two shots on goal, one blocked shot and three hits in two NHL appearances this season. His demotion to the minors probably bodes well for the availability of Jordan Staal (illness) for Sunday's matchup against Calgary, especially after Staal participated in Saturday's practice.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: Gets first point of NHL campaign

Robidas logged an assist and two hits in Friday's 5-1 win over the Jets.

Robidas is up from AHL Chicago to help cover some absences up front for the Hurricanes. The 22-year-old was playing in his second game of the campaign Friday and set up Alexander Nikishin's tally in the final minute. Robidas had 12 points in 16 AHL games prior to his call-up, but he'll find it tougher to be productive in a bottom-six role while with the big club.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: Recalled from minors

Robidas was summoned from AHL Chicago on Tuesday.

In a corresponding move, Carolina moved Jesperi Kotkaniemi (ankle) to injured reserve. Robdias has notched four goals and 12 points in 16 minor-league appearances this campaign. He could make his NHL season debut against the Rangers on Wednesday if Jordan Staal (illness) remains unavailable.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: Two-point effort Sunday

Robidas scored a goal and added an assist in AHL Chicago's 4-3 shootout win over Grand Rapids on Sunday.

Robidas has maintained a point-per-game pace early in the AHL campaign. He has a total of three goals and eight assists in 11 contests, with all three of those tallies coming over his last three games. The 22-year-old forward is also part of the Wolves' leadership group, which is a trait that could help his path to the NHL. He had two points in as many games for the Hurricanes back in April, and he put up 55 points in 70 regular-season outings with the Wolves in his AHL rookie campaign last year, so he's got plenty of potential even as an undersized forward.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: Sent to AHL

Robidas was assigned to AHL Chicago on Sunday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.

Robidas made his NHL debut against the Red Wings on Friday and also appeared in Saturday's game against Boston. Over those two appearances, he recorded a goal, an assist and two hits while averaging 11:09 of ice time. Despite his production, he'll head back to the minors, which could mean that some of the Hurricanes' injured forwards will be ready to return soon.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: First NHL goal

Robidas scored a goal, took two shots and recorded two hits in Saturday's 5-1 loss to the Bruins.

After notching an assist in his NHL debut Friday in Detroit, Robidas continued his strong start to his NHL career by potting his first goal Saturday. The 21-year-old has been playing on the fourth line, but he could move up the lineup if he continues to find the scoresheet regularly.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: Secures assist in NHL debut

Robidas logged an assist in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Red Wings.

This was Robidas' NHL debut, and he set up an Eric Robinson tally in the second period for his first point. The 22-year-old Robidas was drafted in the fifth round in 2021 and signed his entry-level deal in May of 2023, so he's taken his time to develop to get to this level. This stint in the NHL is likely to be temporary, and he'll be limited to bottom-six minutes until one of Jordan Staal (lower body) or Andrei Svechnikov (undisclosed) is able to return. Robidas had 48 points in 65 games with AHL Chicago prior to his call-up Thursday.

  • Hurricanes' Justin Robidas: Up from minors

Robidas was recalled by Carolina on Thursday Cory Lavalette of the North State Journal reports.

Robidas has 17 goals and 48 points in 65 outings with AHL Chicago in 2024-25. The 22-year-old has yet to make his NHL debut, but perhaps that will change Friday in Detroit or Saturday in Boston. His entry into the lineup might be dependent on the availability of Andrei Svechnikov, who sustained an undisclosed injury during Wednesday's 5-1 win over Washington.
