White has missed the last four games. He will replace Michael Pezzetta on the fourth line, skating alongside Rafael Harvey-Pinard and Tanner Pearson. White was claimed off waivers by the Canadiens on Thursday after being waived by Pittsburgh on Wednesday, Chris Johnston of The Athletic reports.
White saw limited action for Pittsburgh before being waived by the team, going scoreless while averaging 9:57 of ice time through 11 top-level appearances. The 27-year-old forward could make his Canadiens debut immediately Thursday against the team that just parted ways with him, the Penguins.

White was an unrestricted free agent after the Panthers didn't give him a qualifying offer in June. The 26-year-old was a first-round pick (21st overall) in 2015 with the Senators, but had his contract bought out in July of 2022. White wasn't given a qualifying offer by Florida, so he's set to become an unrestricted free agent Saturday, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.
White had eight goals, 15 points, 61 hits and 29 blocks in 68 outings with the Panthers last season. He's coming off a one-year, $1.2 million contract and would have required a qualifying offer of the same value in order for Florida to retain his exclusive negotiating rights.
