Kings' Andrei Kuzmenko: Done for regular season
Kuzmenko (knee) isn't expected to return before the end of the 2025-26 regular season, per John Hoven of SiriusXM NHL Network Radio on Friday.
Kuzmenko underwent knee surgery last Saturday to repair a torn meniscus. He had 13 goals, 25 points and 69 shots on net across 52 appearances this campaign. If the Kings qualify for the playoffs, it's unclear when Kuzmenko will be ready to return to the lineup.

Kings' Andrei Kuzmenko: Undergoes knee surgery
Kuzmenko underwent knee surgery for a torn meniscus and is on injured reserve, the team announced Saturday.
Kuzmenko is regarded as week-to-week, and it wouldn't be surprising if he's out for quite a while. The 30-year-old has 13 goals and 25 points in 52 outings in 2025-26. The Kings recalled defenseman Angus Booth from AHL Ontario to fill the roster spot created by putting Kuzmenko on IR.

Kuzmenko celebrated his 30th birthday with his first multi-point effort since Jan. 5 versus the Wild. While he had a good performance, the rest of the Kings couldn't say the same. Kuzmenko is currently in a middle-six role, though it's his power-play time that could spark his offense. For the season, the winger has 13 goals, 23 points, 68 shots on net and a minus-4 rating over 50 appearances, with 13 of his points coming on the power play.

Kuzmenko assisted on Kevin Fiala's goal in the second period, and he later found the back of the net to give the Kings a 3-1 lead at the 9:20 mark of the final frame with a wrister. Kuzmenko has two multi-point performances in his last three games and seven points (four goals, three helpers) over his last seven appearances.

Kuzmenko had a goal and an assist, both on the power play, in a 5-3 loss to Tampa Bay on Thursday.
The second power-play unit, which includes Kuzmenko, received high praise from head coach Jim Hiller after the game: "That group, in particular, is moving it well and they feel dangerous, as dangerous as we've been all year." Thursday was the first time this season that the Kings scored multiple power-play goals in a game. They were the only team in the NHL to not have done so. Kuzmenko, who has really scuffled this season, may finally be warming up. He has five points, including three goals, in his last five games, and three of those points (one goal, two helpers) have come on the power play. Prior to that, Kuzmenko had just nine points (five goals, four assists) in his previous 29 games.

Kuzmenko has scored in consecutive contests, and he has four tallies over his last seven outings. Kuzmenko has two power-play goals and four total points through six games this season. The absence of Anze Kopitar (foot, week-to-week) won't help Kuzmenko's productivity, though the Kings as a whole have been somewhat underwhelming so far. In addition to his four points, the 29-year-old winger has accumulated nine shots on net, nine hits and a plus-1 rating while seeing top-six minutes and power-play time. He won't stay that physical all season, but he should provide decent offense.

Kuzmenko opened the scoring just 4:41 into the game, and he had a hand in Brandt Clarke's game-tying goal in the third period. However, after the tying goal, Kuzmenko received just two shifts. The 29-year-old is penciled in on the top line and showed some talent late in 2024-25 in that spot alongside Anze Kopitar and Adrian Kempe. Kuzmenko will need to showcase his skill without dipping in performance, as head coach Jim Hiller could give another winger a look in his spot if he slumps too long at any point in the year.

Kuzmenko signed a one-year, $4.3 million contract with the Kings on Monday.
Kuzmenko had 11 goals, 37 points and 83 shots on net in 66 regular-season appearances with LA, Calgary and Philadelphia in 2024-25. He was a solid fit with the Kings, supplying five goals and 17 points in 22 regular-season outings before adding three tallies and three helpers in six playoff appearances.
