Finnie (concussion) will play in Friday's road clash against the Sabres, per Max Bultman of The Athletic. Finnie passed through concussion protocol ahead of Friday's game after sustaining a hard hit in Tuesday's matchup. He'll return to the lineup without missing any games and is set to skate on Detroit's third line as the left winger. The 20-year-old forward has five points over his last 11 games and is a solid fantasy option in deep leagues.

  • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Enters concussion protocol

Finnie is in concussion protocol after taking a heavy hit in Tuesday's game versus the Senators, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Finds twine in win

Finnie tallied a goal, recorded two shots on net and dished out three hits in Monday's 5-2 win over the Flames. Finnie put the Red Wings up 2-1 early in the second period, finding the back of the net for the first time since Mar. 4. Overall, the 20-year-old winger is up to 12 goals, 26 points, 104 shots on net, 107 hits and 36 blocked shots across 68 games this season. In the absence of Dylan Larkin (leg) and Andrew Copp (leg), Finnie has stepped up as the team's No. 2 center with five points, 14 shots on net, 16 hits and five blocked shots over his last eight games. His all-around play style makes him a solid streaming option in category-based fantasy leagues while Detroit remains thin at the center position.

The rookie winger's offense has notably slowed down after he burst onto the NHL scene with 19 points in 38 contests to begin his career. • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Produces assist Thursday

Finnie notched an assist and two shots on goal in Thursday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Wild. Finnie came out of the holiday break cold, going 13 games without a point. • Red Wings' Emmitt Finnie: Gets choice assignment in debut

Finnie saw time on the first line in his NHL debut, but Detroit struggled en route to a 5-1 loss to Montreal on Thursday. Most of Finnie's shifts were shared with Lucas Raymond and Dylan Larkin, but the reality is more mixed than that might sound. Finnie logged just 12:22 of ice time despite his first-line role, and he wasn't used at all with the man advantage. Finnie finished the game with no points, one shot and one hit. The 20-year-old slipped to the No. 201 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, but he's risen up the ranks quickly. He took a major step forward in 2024-25 by scoring 37 goals and 84 points across 55 regular-season outings with WHL Kamloops and followed that up with another five points in 13 regular-season and playoff appearances with AHL Grand Rapids.
