Canucks' Tom Willander: Opens scoring in loss
Willander scored a goal on two shots in Tuesday's 5-2 loss to the Sharks.
Willander missed Sunday's game versus the Penguins due to an illness, but he made a quick impact in his return to the lineup. Willander may see steadier playing time going forward while Zeev Buium (face) is out of action. Willander has three goals, 15 points, 37 shots on net, 38 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating through 41 appearances this season. Considering he's in a third-pairing role on a bad team, he's done fairly well on offense as a rookie.

He's at eight points, 14 shots on net, 18 blocked shots and a plus-3 rating over 19 appearances.

Canucks' Tom Willander: Notches pair of helpers
Willander logged two assists in Wednesday's 5-4 win over the Ducks.
Willander logged his first multi-point game in the NHL by assisting on goals by Evander Kane (on the power play) and Conor Garland. Through 14 appearances, Willander has five assists, nine shots on net, 15 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating. He's been fairly sheltered on the third pairing and second power-play unit, but his promising offense is already peaking through. He's not quite productive enough yet for redraft formats, but dynasty managers should be patient for the 20-year-old to grow into a larger role.

Canucks' Tom Willander: Collects first career assist
Willander notched an assist in Monday's 5-4 overtime win over the Predators.
The helper was Willander's first point in four career NHL games. The 20-year-old defenseman was expected to spend most of 2025-26 in the AHL, but the Canucks have sustained a number of injuries on the blue line, pressing him into service at the NHL level sooner than expected. He's added four shots on net, two blocked shots, one hit and a plus-1 rating so far. Willander will probably head back to AHL Abbotsford once Victor Mancini (upper body) and/or Derek Forbort (undisclosed) get cleared to return from injured reserve.

Canucks' Tom Willander: Promoted from AHL
Willander was recalled from AHL Abbotsford on Tuesday.
The Canucks are dealing with multiple injuries on the blue line, so Willander might draw into the lineup Tuesday versus the Rangers if Quinn Hughes (lower body) is unable to suit up. The 20-year-old Willander has yet to make his NHL debut, so he'd likely receive sheltered minutes on the third pairing if he's forced into action in the near future.

He will get plenty of ice time in Abbotsford and could be recalled later in the season. The Canucks recalled defenseman Victor Mancini in a corresponding move.

Willander will return to Boston University for his junior season, Farhan Lalji of TSN reports.
Willander has spent the last two years with the Terriers in the NCAA and the defenseman has recorded 49 points over 77 career games. The 20-year-old, selected with the 11th pick in the first round by the Canucks in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, was a big reason why the team finished as the national runner-up this past year. Vancouver still holds his rights for two more years.

Canucks' Tom Willander: Plucking apples
Willander has six assists in his last five games with Boston University.
Willander has two goals and 18 points through 27 NCAA appearances this season. The 20-year-old blueliner should surpass his 25-point freshman campaign from 2023-24, but he has been hot and cold offensively during his second college season. Vancouver chose Willander with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
