Evans posted an assist and two hits in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Oilers.
This was Evans' first game since he signed a four-year contract extension, which effectively took him off the trade board. The 28-year-old has two points over three outings in March. He won't be the most consistent scorer, but Evans has proven his value as a defensive forward who can handle the grinding work of a bottom-six role. He's matched his career high with 29 points through just 62 appearances, and he's added 59 shots on net, 95 hits, 43 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating this season. Those numbers put Evans on the fringe in most fantasy formats, but he can be helpful in deeper leagues.
Evans inked a four-year, $11.4 million contract extension with Montreal on Tuesday.
Evans was expected to become an unrestricted free agent this offseason but has instead tied himself to the Habs for another four years. Over his career, the 28-year-old winger has been unable to top the 30-point threshold but should be able to reach that mark this year, having generated 28 points in 61 appearances in 2024-25.

Canadiens' Jake Evans: Scores game-winning goal
Rotowire
Evans scored the game-winning goal on two shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Tampa Bay.
With his tally, Evans was able to bring his 10-game goal drought to a close. Prior to his slump, the 28-year-old forward had scored in five straight games, so perhaps fantasy managers can expect more to come with Evans back on track. Still, the Toronto native remains stuck in a bottom-six role without power-play opportunities, which may limit his fantasy upside.

Canadiens' Jake Evans: Back on fourth line
Rotowire
Evans had an assist, one block and three hits in Wednesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.
Evans sprung new linemate Emil Heineman for a third-period tally that put Montreal up, 3-2. Through no fault of his own, Evans found himself on the fourth line after taking shifts on the potentially lucrative second line for much of the last month. Montreal head coach Martin St. Louis, who has been flustered by the slow starts of Juraj Slafkovsky and Kirby Dach, juggled the lines Wednesday. And unfortunately for Evans, who has been a versatile forward since coming up to Montreal in 2019, the shakeup resulted in him skating on the fourth line.
