Top Quinn Hughes News

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Another productive showing

Hughes recorded a goal and an assist in Monday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Hurricanes.

Hughes has lacked consistency on a game-to-game basis, as the 25-year-old blueliner has four games with multiple points and four in which he wasn't able to contribute to the scoresheet. Three of those multi-point efforts have come across Vancouver's last five games, however, so it seems Hughes is trending in the right direction. He should continue to have plenty of opportunities to produce as a member of the top pairing and first power-play unit.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Back on scoresheet Tuesday

Hughes registered two power-play assists in Tuesday's 6-3 victory over the Blackhawks.

Hughes notched a helper on J.T. Miller's first-period power-play marker before adding another assist in the same fashion on Brock Boeser's third-period tally. Hughes added five shots, one block, one takeaway and a plus-3 rating in 19:49 of ice time. The star left-shot blueliner has scored in bunches to start the 2024-25 campaign -- in six appearances, Hughes has been held off the scoresheet three times, but he's picked up a pair of points in the mirroring games. Hughes is in a four-way tie for the team lead in points with six.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Two points in overtime win

Hughes scored a goal on nine shots, added an assist and blocked two shots in Thursday's 3-2 overtime win over the Panthers.

Hughes gave the Canucks a 2-1 lead in the second period and set up J.T. Miller on the game-winner in overtime. The goal was Hughes' first of the season, and he's up to four points, 13 shots on net, seven blocks and a plus-1 rating through four appearances. While he hasn't displayed much consistency yet, Hughes has the talent to exceed a point-per-game pace as he did with 17 goals and 92 points in 82 regular-season outings in 2023-24.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Opens season with two helpers

Hughes logged two assists, two blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Wednesday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Flames.

Hughes helped out on a Brock Boeser tally just after a power play expired in the first period. In the third, a Hughes' block sprung J.T. Miller for the game-tying goal. The 24-year-old Hughes already has a multi-point effort to his name in 2024-25 after recording 27 such games en route to a career-best 92-point output last season. The Florida native is one of the most gifted blueliners in the league and should be well worth the early-round pick fantasy managers needed to acquire his services this year.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Deposits goal

Hughes scored a goal on three shots and added two PIM in Friday's 4-1 preseason win over the Oilers.

Hughes opened the scoring at 10:11 of the first period. The reigning Norris Trophy winner put up three points over two preseason appearances, not that he needs to do much to prove himself now. At 24 years old, Hughes is one of the top defensemen in the league, though even he may have trouble replicating the 17-goal, 92-point campaign he produced in 82 regular-season outings in 2023-24. Still, Hughes should be a threat for a point-per-game pace and significant power-play production even if he takes a small step back.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Deals assist in loss

Hughes notched an assist in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 7.

Hughes produced five assists over seven second-round games. The 24-year-old defenseman concluded the postseason with 10 helpers, 21 shots on net, 14 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating across 13 appearances. Hughes' goal-scoring took a step forward with 17 tallies among his 92 points in the regular season, but he's always been more of a facilitator from the blue line. The Canucks' captain remains an integral part of the club's future heading into 2024-25.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Gathers helper in loss

Hughes recorded an assist and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Oilers in Game 4.

Hughes has four assists over his last three games, though this one was his first at even strength in that span. The defenseman is up to nine helpers, 14 shots on net, 10 blocked shots and a plus-1 rating over 10 playoff appearances. Hughes is still providing solid offense and steady defense from a top-pairing role, so the lack of goals shouldn't be a concern for fantasy managers or Canucks fans.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Adds two power-play helpers

Hughes notched two power-play assists, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Oilers in Game 3.

This was Hughes' third multi-point game of the playoffs, and his first since Game 3 of the first round. The defenseman is up to eight assists through nine postseason outings, and he's added 13 shots on net, eight blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating. Five of Hughes' eight helpers have come on the power play as he continues to see a significant role with the man advantage as the Canucks' top blueliner.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Helps out on power play

Hughes logged a power-play assist and two shots on goal in Friday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Oilers in Game 2.

Hughes is up to six helpers over eight playoff games, and three of those assists have come on the power play. He helped out on an Elias Pettersson tally in this contest. Hughes has added 11 shots on net, six blocked shots and a minus-1 rating while continuing to play massive minutes on the Canucks' top pairing.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Bags apple in loss

Hughes posted an assist and three shots on goal in Tuesday's 2-1 loss to the Predators in Game 5.

Hughes is up to five assists, eight shots on net and six blocked shots over five playoff contests. He set up Nikita Zadorov for the opening goal in the third period, though the Canucks couldn't hold that narrow lead. Hughes' play hasn't been as consistent in the playoffs when compared to the regular season, but he's still seeing a massive workload on the top pairing.

  • Canucks' Quinn Hughes: Keeps dishing in Game 3 victory

Hughes earned two power-play assists Friday in a 2-1 win over the Predators in Game 3.

Hughes didn't post a shot on goal for the first time in the series, but the point-packing defender has four helpers through three contests against Nashville. Of course, you could say that his performance Friday was just another day at the office for Hughes after he led all NHL defensemen in assists (75) and points (92) during the regular season.
