  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Posts helper

Gatcomb logged an assist and three hits in Wednesday's 5-2 win over the Rangers. Gatcomb looked to be slipping into a part-time role last week, but he's retaken a fourth-line spot over Calum Ritchie (lower body) in the past two games. The 26-year-old Gatcomb ended an 18-game point drought with his helper in Wednesday's win. He's produced just three points with 30 shots on net, 108 hits and a plus-1 rating over 24 outings, so he doesn't need to be rostered in most fantasy formats.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Slipping out of lineup

Gatcomb was scratched for the second straight game in Saturday's 5-0 loss to the Sabres. Gatcomb's role is shrinking with the return of Bo Horvat (lower body), who played Saturday. The Islanders have plenty of depth forwards, and Gatcomb hasn't stood out -- he's stuck in a 17-game point drought currently. The 26-year-old has put up just two points in 22 outings this season, adding 28 shots on net and 102 hits, but the Islanders may be reluctant to expose him to waivers.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Finds twine in win

Gatcomb netted a goal and dished out nine hits in Tuesday's 5-4 shootout win over the Golden Knights. Gatcomb made his presence felt in the contest with a second-period goal and a season-high nine hits. With his effort Tuesday, the 26-year-old forward is up to two points, six shots on net and 29 hits through five games this season. He's making the most of his stint in the NHL in the absence of Jonathan Drouin (back). Once Drouin returns, Gatcomb has a chance to remain with the Islanders instead of returning to AHL Bridgeport, but he'd likely rotate in and out of the lineup. When he does play, Gatcomb offers a premium value in hits per game, but has limited offensive upside.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Hitter tallies another snipe

Gatcomb scored a goal in a 5-3 loss to the Lightning on Saturday. He wired a wrist shot from the right circle in the third period to draw the Islanders to within two at 4-2. Gatcomb has six goals, one assist, 24 shots and a whopping 106 hits in 29 appearances this season. He has rung up four hits in each of his last four games, showing he can provide fantasy managers with a category bump if bruises are needed.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Pots goal in loss

Gatcomb found the back of the net on his only shot, doled out four hits and went plus-2 in Saturday's 4-3 overtime loss to the Flames. Gatcomb converted a beautiful feed from Maxim Tsyplakov late in the first period to give the Islanders a 2-1 lead. The 25-year-old Gatcomb has two goals in his last four games, but he hasn't earned an assist since Feb. 23. The Massachusetts native has chipped in five goals and six points across 26 appearances this season. He's added 94 hits, which is his best attribute in the fantasy realm.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Buries goal in win

Gatcomb scored a goal on three shots, added three hits and went plus-2 in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Panthers. Gatcomb ended a nine-game point drought with his goal in the third period, which started the Islanders' comeback. The 25-year-old forward has maintained a fourth-line role despite his lack of offense, as the Islanders don't appear to trust Matt Martin to play regularly. Gatcomb is now at four goals, one assist, 18 shots on net, 86 hits and an even plus-minus rating through 23 appearances this season.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Logs helper

Gatcomb notched an assist and six hits in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Stars. This was Gatcomb's first assist of the season and his fourth point over seven contests. The 25-year-old has settled into a fourth-line role since making his NHL debut Jan. 14 against the Senators. In addition to his four points, he has 13 shots on net, 54 hits, nine PIM and an even plus-minus rating over 13 appearances. That level of production may help in extremely deep fantasy formats, but Gatcomb is far away from having widespread appeal.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Second career goal Sunday

Gatcomb netted the second goal of his career in Sunday's 6-3 loss against the Panthers. Gatcomb's goal was the go-ahead tally in the second period before the Panthers scored four unanswered. The 25-year-old forward now has two goals and 40 hits across his first nine career NHL games. Over the last 15 days, only his teammate Casey Cizikas has more hits across the NHL. Gatcomb will need more ice time to be a trustworthy option in fantasy, but he is an exciting name to keep an eye on in banger leagues.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: First career goal and point

Gatcomb scored a goal Thursday in a 3-0 win over the Flyers. The Flyers blew a line change, and Gatcomb and Kyle MacLean skated in on a 2-on-0 that Gatcomb finished. It was his first NHL goal in his seventh game. The undrafted forward is living the dream after spending the first four years of his pro career with the Canucks' organization in the AHL and ECHL. That puck is going on Gatcomb's mantel.

  • Islanders' Marc Gatcomb: Ascends to NHL

Gatcomb was recalled from AHL Bridgeport on Friday, Stefen Rosner of NHL.com reports. Gatcomb made his NHL debut Tuesday, picking up four hits and a blocked shot in 7:27 of action. Maxim Tsyplakov could get suspended for his hit to the head on the Flyers' Ryan Poehling, and if so, it will leave the Islanders with only 12 healthy forwards, including Gatcomb.
