  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Lands on waivers

Rodrigue was placed on waivers Sunday. Rodrigues supplied a 19-12-5 record with a 2.73 GAA and a .916 save percentage in 37 appearances for AHL Bakersfield during the 2023-24 regular season. The 24-year-old netminder will probably spend most, if not all, of the 2024-25 campaign in the minors.

  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Starting in Seattle

Rodrigue will protect the road goal versus the Kraken in Wednesday's preseason game. Rodrigue will make his third start of the preseason. He has allowed nine goals on 54 shots in his first two appearances. Calvin Pickard (upper body) left his previous start but is expected to be fine for Opening Night, so Rodrigue is most likely to head to AHL Bakersfield after this appearance.

  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: In goal for home game

Rodrigue will get the starting nod for Monday's home clash versus Calgary, Jason Gregor of Sports 1440 Edmonton reports. With Edmonton and Calgary playing split-squad games, Rodrigue takes the net at home while Collin Delia will start for the Oilers in the road contest. The 24-year-old Rodrigue saw action in 37 games for AHL Bakersfield last year in which he posted a 19-12-5 record, a .916 save percentage and a 2.73 GAA. With Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard set as the NHL goalie tandem to open the season, Rodrigue figures to continue plying his trade in the minors with the Condors.

Rodrigue signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Oilers on Tuesday. Rodrigue wrapped up his entry-level deal while posting a 14-14-1 record, a 2.77 GAA and a .912 save percentage in 29 games with AHL Bakersfield last season. He'll remain with the Oilers' organization for now, though it's likely he again spends the bulk of 2023-24 in the minors.

  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Recalled to taxi squad

Rodrigue has been recalled from the Austrian League and will join Edmonton's taxi squad, Sportsnet's Chris Johnston reports. With Mike Smith (undisclosed) being placed on long-term injured reserve, Rodrigue will serve as insurance behind Mikko Koskinen and Stuart Skinner. The 20-year-old was a second-round pick by Edmonton in 2018 and spent last season in the QMJHL. He'll need to quarantine upon arrival in Canada prior to joining the team.

  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Loaned to Austrian club

The Oilers have loaned Rodrigue to the Graz99ers of the Austrian Hockey League. Rodrigue spent the 2019-20 season with the Moncton Wildcats of the QMJHL, compiling a 31-7-1 record while posting a 2.32 GAA and .918 save percentage. • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Released from camp

Rodrigue has been released from Edmonton's training camp roster, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports. The Oilers wanted Rodrigue to attend training camp because the team's development camp and fall rookie tournament were both cancelled due to COVID-19, but he was never expected to still be with the club for its qualifying round matchup with the Blackhawks. The 2018 second-round pick posted a 31-7-1 record while registering a 2.32 GAA and .918 save percentage in 39 appearances with his QMJHL team this year.

  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Joining training camp

Rodrigue will take part in the Oilers' return to play training camp, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports. Rodrigue won't be getting into any playoff games, barring a real bad run of injuries, but the opportunity to practice with NHL players will no doubt help his long-term development. The 19-year-old went 31-7-1 with a .918 save percentage and 2.32 GAA in 39 appearances for QMJHL Moncton this year.

  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Busy in loss to Flames prospects

Rodrigue stopped 40 of 42 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Flames' prospects. The Oilers' rookies didn't help their 19-year-old goalie much, as only Evan Bouchard was able to get the puck behind Flames goalie Dustin Wolf. Rodrigue's strong play kept the Oilers in striking distance for a majority of the contest. Expect Rodrigue to spend another year with QMJHL Drummondville, where he posted a 2.80 GAA and an .895 save percentage over 142 games in the last three seasons. Rodrigue is likely three-plus years away from having an impact at the NHL level.

  • Oilers' Olivier Rodrigue: Secures entry-level deal

Rodrigue agreed to terms on a three-year, entry-level contract with Edmonton on Wednesday. Rodrigue -- who was selected by the club with the 62nd overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft -- went 35-9-1 with a .902 save percentage in 48 appearances with QMJHL Drummondville this season. The 18-year-old netminder figures to spend at least another year in juniors before getting a shot with AHL Bakersfield, though the organization's lack of goalie depth could force it to fast-track the youngster's development.
