  • Gaetan Haas: Returning to Switzerland

Haas agreed to terms on a five-year deal with Swiss club EHC Biel-Bienne on Thursday.

Haas returns to Biel-Bienne, a team with which he came up through the youth ranks and previously served as an assistant captain for three seasons from 2014-17. In two years with Edmonton, the 29-year-old center appeared in 92 games in which he registered seven goals, six assists and 89 hits while averaging 10:19 of ice time. Given his age and the length of his contract, this likely will mark the end of Haas' time in the NHL.

  • Oilers' Gaetan Haas: Returning for regular-season finale

Haas (foot) will return to the lineup for Saturday's regular-season finale against the Canucks, Bob Stauffer of the Oilers Radio Network reports.

Haas will make his first appearance since May 1, skating with James Neal on a fourth line that's likely to have a rotating cast of options on the other wing, as Edmonton's going with 11 forwards and seven defensemen. The veteran center will likely fill a defense-first fourth-line role if he cracks the lineup in the playoffs, and Saturday's game will serve as an opportunity to knock off the rust prior to the postseason.

The cause of Haas' injury was previously unknown, but it was revealed that he was injured by taking a shot to the foot. Edmonton has three more regular-season games left after Saturday, and it sounds like Haas could miss some or all of those as well, though he's yet to be ruled out officially beyond Saturday.

  • Oilers' Gaetan Haas: Out with undisclosed issue

Haas will not be in the lineup against Vancouver on Monday after sustaining an undisclosed injury, Daniel Nugent-Bowman of The Athletic reports.

Given Haas hasn't scored a point since March 17 versus Calgary, a run of 16 games without a point, few fantasy players will notice the center's absence. Even once given the green light to play, he could still find himself watching from the press box given the veteran depth on the club.

Haas returned from a five-game absence to center the Oilers' fourth line between Kyle Turris and Alex Chiasson. The 29-year-old Haas was second among Oilers skaters with 4:10 of shorthanded ice time, providing a boost to their penalty-killing ranks.
