Panthers' Tobias Bjornfot: Unlikely source of offense Sunday
Bjornfot scored twice in Sunday's 5-1 win over the Blackhawks.
Prior to Sunday, Bjornfot had just one goal in the first 138 regular-season games of his NHL career. He hadn't earned a point since the 2022-23 campaign with the Kings, when he had one assist over 10 outings. The defenseman provided an unlikely spark, scoring the opening and closing goals of the Panthers' win. He's added seven shots on net, four hits, five blocked shots and a plus-2 rating over five contests this season. Bjornfot is likely to stick in the lineup as a third-pairing defenseman while Seth Jones (upper body) and Dmitry Kulikov (upper body) are out, though Donovan Sebrango could push him for playing time.

Panthers' Tobias Bjornfot: Summoned from AHL
Bjornfot was recalled from AHL Charlotte on Sunday, George Richards of Florida Hockey Now reports.
Bjornfot began the season in the NHL as the Panthers' extra defenseman but did not see the ice. With Seth Jones (upper body) expected to miss Sunday's game against the Avalanche, the 24-year-old Bjornfot has been recalled from the AHL to likely fill that same extra defenseman role for as long as Jones is sidelined. Bjornfot has one goal and six assists in 22 games with Charlotte.

Bjornfot wasn't getting work with the Kings, having last played at the NHL level Oct. 11. Had he cleared waivers, he would have likely reported to AHL Ontario where he would have played regularly. However, Vegas likely sees potential in the 22-year-old defenseman, who LA selected with the No. 22 overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. Bjornfot is a particularly useful grab for Vegas currently because the Golden Knights are missing defensemen Ben Hutton (upper body), Shea Theodore (upper body) and Kaedan Korczak (lower body).
