  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Generates helper in win

Seider produced an assist, three blocked shots and a plus-4 rating in Wednesday's 4-1 win over the Blackhawks.

The pairing of Seider and Simon Edvinsson was on the ice for all four of the Red Wings' goals in the win. Seider is starting to find a groove again with five helpers over his last five contests. The 23-year-old defenseman remains capable of excellent category coverage in fantasy. He has eight points (two on the power play), 23 shots on net, 40 hits, 30 blocked shots, 10 PIM and a plus-3 rating over 12 appearances.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Collects two power-play helpers

Seider notched two power-play assists in Wednesday's 6-2 loss to the Jets.

It was the first points of the season with the man advantage for the 23-year-old blueliner. Seider has picked up multiple helpers in two of the last three contests, and through 10 games he's produced a goal and seven points with 40 hits, 27 blocked shots, 20 shots on net and 10 PIM.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Two helpers in Saturday's loss

Seider notched two assists in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Sabres.

It's the first multi-point performance of the season for the 23-year-old blueliner, and the performance snapped a three-game point drought. Seider has a goal and five points through eight contests while adding 38 hits -- third in the NHL behind Kiefer Sherwood (50) and Jeremy Lauzon (43) -- along with 24 blocked shots, 16 shots on goal, 10 PIM and a plus-4 rating.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: First goal of season Thursday

Seider scored a goal in Thursday's 5-2 loss to the Rangers.

Seider found the back of the net for the first time this season with a wrister in the early stages of the second period, but his goal didn't spark a comeback for the Red Wings. Seider has been productive to start the campaign and has recorded points in three of his first four outings in 2024-25, but that shouldn't be much of a surprise, as he's notched at least 42 points in his first three years in the league. Seider figures to remain an offensive contributor for the Red Wings this year.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Gets physical in win

Seider recorded an assist, eight hits, seven blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 3-0 win over the Predators.

Seider offered excellent category coverage for fantasy managers in this contest. The 23-year-old blueliner has two assists, four shots on net, eight blocked shots and 15 hits through two contests. While he hasn't elevated his offense to an elite level yet, Seider is reliable thanks to his power-play production while also being a threat for 200 each of hits and blocks, making him a well-rounded option for fantasy.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Agrees to seven-year contract

Seider signed a seven-year, $59.85 million contract with the Red Wings on Thursday.

Seider was a restricted free agent, and this agreement, along with locking Lucas Raymond up to an eight-year, $64.6 million contract Monday, puts Detroit's books in order going into the 2024-25 campaign. As is the case with Raymond's deal, Seider's cap hit ($8.55 million) looks solid now for what he brings to the table and could become tremendous value as he continues to develop and the salary cap increases further. The 23-year-old defenseman had nine goals and 42 points in 82 contests last season, making it the third straight campaign in which he surpassed the 40-point mark. Seider is expected to enter the season as a member of Detroit's top four and receive steady work with the man advantage.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Lights lamp in season finale

Seider scored a goal in the regular-season finale Tuesday, a 5-4 shootout win over the Canadiens.

Winged Wheel fans won't get to see how Seider would fare in the playoffs, at least not this year, as Detroit was eliminated from playoff contention by virtue of the Capitals defeating the Flyers on Tuesday. Still, it was another strong regular-season campaign for the fiery young defenseman who just cashed out the balance of his entry-level contract with the Wings. Seider registered a career-high nine goals to complement 33 assists in 2023-24, matching his point total from last season. He remained a force on the man advantage based on three goals and 14 assists, and his defensive contributions were rock solid as well, as Seider blocked 213 shots and delivered 210 hits. Risk-averse fantasy managers will likely place a premium on Seider during next year's drafts since the durable defenseman has yet to miss a game.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Tacks on assist

Seider posted an assist in Thursday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Penguins.

Seider teed up fellow defenseman Jeff Petry for a slap shot that brushed twine and narrowed the deficit to 4-3 in the second period. Unfortunately, Seider's produced just two multi-point games since the beginning of March, and with three games to go in the regular season, it's going to take something close to a miracle for him to match the 50-point rookie output that resulted in him winning the Calder Trophy following the 2021-22 campaign. Nonetheless, the German blueliner is still producing at a solid level for fantasy managers.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Set to play

Seider (illness) is expected to play Tuesday against Washington, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com.

Seider felt under the weather Tuesday morning but will be in the lineup for an important contest versus the Capitals. He has amassed eight goals, 40 points, 125 shots on net, 206 blocked shots and 190 hits in 77 games this season.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Under the weather

Seider is dealing with an illness ahead of Tuesday's game versus Washington, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.

Although he's under the weather, the Red Wings are still hopeful Seider will be available against the Capitals. Confirmation on Seider's status for Tuesday's contest likely won't surface until Detroit takes the ice for pregame warmups.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Two points against Jackets

Seider produced a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 overtime win over the Blue Jackets.

The 22-year-old blueliner also added five shots on net, three blocked shots, a hit and a plus-2 rating to his ledger. Seider's second-period tally was his eighth of the season, a new career high, and over the last 16 games he's collected 10 points (two goals, eight assists) with 12 PIM, 24 shots on net, 43 blocked shots and 44 hits.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Checks many boxes in win

Seider picked up an assist, two blocked shots and four hits in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Sabres.

Seider had just two points in a single contest during the Red Wings' seven-game losing streak that mercifully ended in this latest home game against the Sabres. As a top-pairing defenseman assigned to the No. 1 power play, Seider is heavily relied upon to create chances in the attacking zone. However, the Wings have been lost with Dylan Larkin rehabbing a lower-body injury, so the offensive output is likely to be hit-or-miss for Seider until the team gets its captain back. Seider has seven goals, 28 assists, 155 hits and 161 blocked shots this season, but it's only natural for people to measure the German's recent efforts against the backdrop of his Calder Trophy-winning 2021-22 campaign.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Two assists in Saturday's loss

Seider registered two assists, two hits, two PIM and a minus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-3 loss to the Golden Knights.

Seider snapped a four-game dry spell when he set up Michael Rasmussen (undisclosed) for a first-period tally. The 22-year-old Seider also had a helper on J.T. Compher's power-play goal in the third. Seider is up to 34 points, 102 shots on net, 144 hits, 155 blocked shots, 44 PIM and a minus-6 rating through 64 appearances. He continues to be a plus in power-play production and physicality, but he's tracking at a similar scoring pace to the one that saw him put up a decent 42 points last season, short of his 50-point rookie campaign the year before.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Proves too much for Kraken

Seider produced a power-play goal to complement six blocked shots in Monday's 4-3 overtime win over the Kraken.

Seider found an open lane and unleashed a wicked slap shot for the game's first goal. The German defenseman is up to seven goals and 30 total points through 55 contests of his third season, and half of that offensive total has taken place on the man advantage. After factoring in his 123 hits and 134 blocked shots, Seider is as complete of a defenseman as you can find in the league today.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Contributes heavily in shutout

Seider registered two assists -- including a power-play helper -- to complement three hits and five blocked shots in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Flames.

Seider set up a one-timer to Patrick Kane on the man advantage to open the scoring in the contest, and the puck-moving defenseman capped it off with the lone helper on the game's final goal, a third-period wrist shot courtesy of Lucas Raymond. The Wings actually posted a minus-17 shot differential in this one, but Seider hustled on defense to help goalie James Reimer secure the shutout. Seider is up to six goals, 23 assists and 15 power-play points through 54 games.

  • Red Wings' Moritz Seider: Slides power-play assist

Seider notched a power-play assist, three shots on goal, two blocked shots and a minus-4 rating in Tuesday's 8-4 loss to the Oilers.

Seider has four points over his last five outings, picking up the pace on offense after a lackluster January. The 22-year-old defenseman is up to 27 points (14 on the power play), 87 shots on net, 107 hits, 121 blocked shots, 32 PIM and a minus-2 rating through 52 appearances. He's on a similar pace to 2022-23, when he racked up 42 points in 82 contests, though that's still noticeably below his 50-point rookie campaign.
