Thomson missed two games due to a lower-body injury in March, but he's been back in the lineup for the last two contests. Senators' Lassi Thomson: Dealt tough hand in return to NHL
Head coach Travis Green stated after Monday's 2-1 win over the Rangers that Thomson (lower body) will be out for a while, according to Julian McKenzie of The Athletic.
Making his first appearance in the NHL since the 2022-23 campaign, Thomson logged two shots in just 4:25 of ice time before being unable to finish Monday's contest. Thomas Chabot (right arm) is also set for an absence, leaving the Senators extremely shorthanded ahead of a crucial divisional matchup in Detroit on Tuesday. Green said that two defensemen will be elevated from Ottawa's minor-league affiliate ahead of the team's second half of a back-to-back.

Thomson (lower body) has been ruled out for the remainder of Monday's road game against the Rangers.
Thomson left Monday's game midway through the second period. He was the second blueliner for Ottawa to depart the contest, as Thomas Chabot left the game late in the first period due to an injury to his right arm. With the Senators playing the second half of a back-to-back Tuesday, Thomson will likely carry the questionable tag until further information is provided. If he can't go Tuesday, the Senators will likely weigh the option of calling up the 20-year-old defenseman Carter Yakemchuk, who is one of the top prospects in their minor-league system.

The Senators are hurting on the blue line with Jake Sanderson out of action with an upper-body injury and Nick Jensen out with a lower-body injury. Thomson wasn't able to catch on with the Senators after being selected by the team with the 19th overall pick in the 2019 Draft -- he appeared in 18 games with Ottawa from 2021-23, picking up five helpers and a minus-10 rating over that span, but he didn't see any action with the big club in 2023-24, instead spending the entirety of the campaign with AHL Belleville, recording 21 points in 67 contests. As a restricted free agent, the Senators still own Thomson's NHL rights, so they'll get the first crack at signing him if he returns to North America in the future.
