Turcotte (upper body) has returned to Los Angeles and has been ruled out for the rest of the road trip which concludes Sunday in Carolina, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
Turcotte missed Tuesday's tilt in Detroit with the injury. The 24-year-old has three goals and 12 points with 29 hits and 25 blocked shots over 49 games this season. He could return as early as Wednesday versus Seattle, though the Kings could give him some extra time off as they are off from Feb. 6 to 24 due to the Olympic break.

Turcotte will miss just his second game of the season Tuesday, though this time it's a result of an injury, as the 24-year-old was a healthy scratch on one occasion in late November. Turcotte ended an 11-game point drought with the helper. The 24-year-old has gotten a boost in ice time since the Kings traded Phillip Danault to the Canadiens prior to the holiday break. That has opened up a third-line role for Turcotte, who now has seven points, 37 shots on net, 20 blocked shots, 17 PIM, 16 hits and a minus-7 rating over 39 appearances. While the third-line job is his for now, he'll need to do more with it than he has recently to avoid potentially losing the spot if the Kings go shopping ahead of the trade deadline.

Turcotte was a healthy scratch in Monday's 2-1 win over the Senators.
Turcotte entered Monday on an 11-game point drought and didn't receive the chance to end the slump. His ice time has been trending down -- he saw just 5:33 in Friday's game against Boston. While Turcotte hasn't been able to make the most of limited minutes this season, his replacement Monday, Samuel Helenius, logged just 3:25 of ice time. That could lead to an open competition for the last forward spot in the lineup until one of those two players impresses head coach Jim Hiller.

Turcotte's penalty was a major for boarding in the second period that led to two goals for the Golden Knights. Aside from that, the 24-year-old looked effective in a fourth-line role. He's averaging just 7:09 of ice time per game through two contests, adding one shot on net, two blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating. Although the 24-year-old will miss a ninth consecutive game Thursday, head coach Jim Hiller said after the team's morning skate that Turcotte is "very close" to returning to action. Turcotte (upper body) returned to the ice for practice Sunday, but he remains without a timetable to return to game action, Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site reports.
While head coach Jim Hiller said that it was "progress" to see Turcotte on the ice for practice Sunday, Hiller said that he "won't expect him anytime soon." The Kings appear to be on track for a playoff berth, so it wouldn't be surprising to see the team exercise caution with Turcotte over the final week and a half of the regular season.
