  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Finds twine Saturday

Letang scored a goal in Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Senators. Even though Letang endured a slow start to the campaign, the 37-year-old is showing he still has something left in the tank, with points in four consecutive games and six of the last seven. Letang has posted five goals and four assists in that seven-game stretch, with two of those goals coming on the power play and another shorthanded. With 15 points in 29 games overall, Letang is undoubtedly trending in the right direction after being almost a non-factor in most fantasy formats during the first few weeks of the campaign.

The 37-year-old defenseman has turned up the offense lately with four goals and four helpers over his last six contests, with five of those points coming on the power play in addition to one shorthanded goal. Overall, he has 14 points (eight on the power play), 75 shots on net, 46 hits, 31 blocked shots, 16 PIM and a minus-12 rating through 28 outings.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Pots empty-netter

Letang scored a shorthanded empty-net goal, fired seven shots on net, went plus-3, added two PIM, levied two hits and blocked two shots in Saturday's 5-2 win over the Maple Leafs. Letang racked up plenty of non-scoring production before putting away the final goal of the game. He's scored three times and added two assists over his last four games. The defenseman is up to five goals, 11 points, 69 shots on net, 46 hits, 29 blocked shots, 14 PIM and a minus-11 rating over 26 appearances. Letang has logged at least one shorthanded point in four of the last six campaigns, but it doesn't represent an outsized portion of his offense.

The defenseman has four points over his last two games after going six contests without a point. • Penguins' Kris Letang: Huge night on power play

Letang racked up a goal and two assists, all on the power play, in Saturday's 6-2 win over the Flames. The veteran blueliner also fired a game-high eight shots on net with two hits, a blocked shot and a minus-1 rating. Letang snapped a six-game point drought, sandwiched around a three-game absence due to an illness, and Saturday's breakout marked his first multi-point outing of the season. His three goals and nine points in 23 appearances are disappointing given his track record, but Letang could be heating up.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Game-time call Friday

Letang (illness) will be a game-time decision against the Jets on Friday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports. Letang looks poised to return from a three-game absence due to his illness. Prior to being sidelined, the 37-year-old blueliner was mired in a 14-game goal drought dating back to Oct. 14 versus the Habs. During his goalless streak, the Montreal native managed just three assists, and he's struggled to provide much in the way of offensive upside this season.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Remains out Tuesday

Letang (illness) will not be in the lineup versus Tampa Bay on Tuesday, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Letang will be shelved for his third consecutive game due to his lingering illness. Prior to his absence, the 37-year-old blueliner was mired in a 14-game goal drought during which he managed just three assists to go with 41 shots, 26 hits and 18 blocks. With Letang still shelved, Owen Pickering figures to remain in the Pens' lineup versus the Bolts.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Unavailable Saturday

Letang (illness) won't play Saturday against San Jose. Letang will miss his second straight game. He has collected two goals, four assists, 47 shots on net, 20 blocked shots and 35 hits across 18 appearances this season. Jack St. Ivany replaced Letang in the lineup for Friday's 6-2 loss to Columbus, but Owen Pickering is also available to play if called upon.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Not playing Friday

Letang (illness) will not be in the lineup Friday in Columbus, according to Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff. Letang should also be considered questionable for Saturday's home game against San Jose. The 37-year-old defenseman has struggled offensively this season with only two goals and six points in 18 games. Owen Pickering, who was recalled earlier in the day, could make his NHL debut on the blue line in place of Letang.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Snags helper Friday

Letang logged an assist, two shots on goal, four hits and a plus-2 rating in Friday's 4-2 win over the Capitals. Letang has earned three helpers over his last six contests as he tries to overcome a slow start to the campaign. The 37-year-old defenseman has two goals, four assists, 42 shots on net, 34 hits, 13 blocked shots, 12 PIM and a minus-6 rating through 16 appearances. Letang continues to see big minutes in a top-four role as well as power-play time, so he should be able to make progress on offense over time.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Logs power-play assist in win

Letang had a power-play assist, one shot on net, one block, three hits and two PIM in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Canadiens. Letang had the primary helper on Sidney Crosby's second-period power-play tally. It was Letang's third point with the man advantage this season. The defenseman entered the contest with just one point over the previous eight outings. The three hits raised his season total to 25 over 13 appearances in 2024-25.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Gets on scoresheet with helper

Letang logged an assist, six shots on goal, two hits and a minus-2 rating in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Wild. Letang snapped a six-game point drought, which came after he registered a point in three straight contests early on. The 37-year-old's defense has been lacking this year as well -- he has a minus-8 rating and just eight blocked shots over 11 appearances. Letang has added four points, 27 shots on net, 20 hits and eight PIM. He's still on the top power-play unit, but with the Penguins struggling in their own zone, there's less upside in Letang's game than there has been in previous years.

Letang scored a goal on two shots along with a blocked shot and three hits in Monday's 6-3 win over the Canadiens. Letang finished off a pretty passing sequence for his second goal in as many games. The defenseman has points in three consecutive contests and continues to be an important cog in the lineup. The 37-year-old is averaging 22:57 of ice time per game.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Set for 2024-25 campaign

Letang (finger) has been cleared for training camp, per Pittsburgh's training camp roster Tuesday. Letang didn't let his finger injury stop him from playing in all 82 games last year in which he generated 10 goals and 41 assists. With the addition of Erik Karlsson, the 37-year-old Letang recorded a meager five power-play points, tied for his lowest total with the man advantage for his career with the exception of 2006-07 when he appeared in just seven contests. Assuming Pittsburgh's power play improves this season -- it would be hard-pressed to get worse -- Letang should inherently see his scoring productivity creep back up this year.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Undergoes finger surgery

Letang had surgery to repair a fractured finger and will need eight weeks to recover, the team announced Wednesday. Letang's recovery timeline shouldn't impact his availability for the start of training camp in the fall. Despite the injury concern, the veteran blueliner played a full 82-game season this past year for the first time since 2010-11. While the Montreal native still managed to rack up 51 points in 2023-24, his productivity with the man advantage dropped significantly, as he managed just five power-play points compared to 21 the campaign before.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: May need surgery

Letang will get a second opinion to determine whether he'll need surgery to address his undisclosed injuries, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports. Although Letang was banged up down the stretch, he appeared in all 82 games for Pittsburgh during the 2023-24 season, racking up 10 goals and 51 points. Another update on the veteran blueliner's status should surface if surgery is required.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Played through injuries

Letang told reporters he was "dealing with some stuff" during the final weeks of the season, per Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Letang was still able to play but did have a handful of maintenance days along the way. Despite being banged up, the veteran blueliner still managed 10 points in his last 11 contests, reaching the 50-point threshold for the seventh time in his NHL career. With Erik Karlsson on the roster, Letang was a relative non-factor with the man advantage this year, earning just five power-play points, something fantasy players will have to factor into their decisions heading into 2024-25.

Letang has recorded a point in seven of his last eight contests, tallying a combined two goals, seven assists and 13 shots while averaging 25:20 of ice time. While the blueliner's production with the man advantage has dropped off, he has topped his point total from last year with 50 points in 79 contests.

  • Penguins' Kris Letang: Grabs assist in win

Letang recorded a power-play assist in Thursday's 3-2 victory over the Blue Jackets. Letang may be mired in a 10-game goal drought, but he's found ways to contribute with four assists, including two with the man advantage, 18 shots and 17 hits over that stretch. While the veteran blueliner is over the 40-point threshold for the seventh straight year, his power-play numbers have dipped dramatically with just five compared to last season's 21.
