The Oklahoma Sooners didn't have the SEC debut their fans dreamed of. The Sooners have been one of the elite programs in college football, winning 49 conference championships over 115 seasons, including 14 Big 12 championships from 2000 through 2020. Oklahoma hosted its first SEC contest but was unable to defeat No. 6 Tennessee, falling 25-15, last week. The Sooners travel to play Auburn in the Week 5 college football schedule and Oklahoma is a 2-point favorite in the latest Week 5 college football odds, according to the SportsLine consensus. Should you expect No. 21 Oklahoma to claim its first SEC victory and cover the spread when making Week 5 college football bets?

The Week 5 college football schedule is filled with some of the best matchups of the season, highlighted by No. 2 Georgia (-2) at No. 4 Alabama on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET. Alabama defeated Georgia, 27-24, in last year's SEC Championship Game and this is the first time the two teams meet in the regular season since 2020. If Georgia remains the favorite until kickoff, it will be the first time Alabama is a home underdog since 2007. Before locking in any Week 5 college football picks on those games or others, be sure to see the college football betting guide from legendary Vegas handicapper Bruce Marshall

Top college football predictions for Week 5

One of the top college football picks Marshall is recommending for Week 5: He's backing No. 12 Michigan to cover as a 9-point favorite against Minnesota in the battle for the Little Brown Jug at noon ET on Saturday. The Wolverines are coming off a 27-24 victory over No. 11 USC to improve to 3-1 under first-year head coach Sherrone Moore. The Wolverines have scored at least 27 points in three of four games this season as even with graduating a strong roster from last season, Michigan has plenty of talent to compete for another playoff berth.

Meanwhile, Minnesota is coming off a 31-14 loss to Iowa after the Hawkeyes failed to score 30 points in any Big Ten contests last season. Minnesota also lost, 19-17, to North Carolina earlier this season and the Tar Heels just allowed 70 points in a 70-50 loss to James Madison last season.

Minnesota went 3-6 in Big Ten play last season, losing four of those games by double-digit points, and dropped its Big Ten opener by double-digit points as well. Minnesota went 1-4 ATS on the road last season and leaves its home field for the first time this season. Marshall doesn't expect a strong road performance from Minnesota against the defending national champions. See which other picks to make here
