Baltimore placed Thompson (undisclosed) on its injured reserve list Wednesday, Quentin Corpuel of the Ravens' official site reports.
In a corresponding transaction, Baltimore signed quarterback Austin Reed. It's still not fully clear what kind of injury Thompson is dealing with, but he's now on track to miss the entire 2026 season as he recovers.

Thompson spent the entire 2025 campaign on Pittsburgh's injured reserve list due to a hamstring injury but appears to have now returned to full health. Thompson was unable to take the field during the 2025 season due to a hamstring injury.
The 2022 seventh-round pick from Kansas State was placed on Pittsburgh's injured reserve list in early September due to a hamstring issue and didn't return this season. After signing a reserve/future contract with the Steelers last January, Thompson is set to enter unrestricted free agency. Thompson popped up on the Steelers' injury report with a hamstring injury prior to their Week 1 win over the Jets, and the issue now appears serious enough for him to land on IR. Pittsburgh's emergency third quarterback will now miss at least four games, with his earliest possible return coming in Week 7 against the Bengals. With rookie Will Howard (hand) also on IR, the Steelers' quarterback room now consists of just Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph.
