  • Chargers' Junior Colson: Dealing with hamstring issue

Colson (hamstring) is questionable to return to Sunday's game at Carolina.

Colson was able to get to the Chargers' locker room under his own power. Until he's again healthy enough for football activities, though, the Chargers will probably have to lean more heavily on Denzel Perryman for snaps at linebacker than normal.

  • Chargers' Junior Colson: Activated off NFI list

Colson was activated from the Chargers' active/non-football illness list Tuesday after passing his physical, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

Colson landed on the NFI list after undergoing an appendectomy prior to the start of training camp. He appears to have fully recovered from the procedure, and he will be able to participate in practice and preseason games. Colson was selected by the Chargers in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 69th overall. He earned Second-Team All-Big Ten Conference honors in his final season in Michigan and led the team with 95 tackles.

  • Chargers' Junior Colson: Appendectomy causes NFI stint

Head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters Wednesday that Colson's placement on the active/non-football illness list is due to an appendectomy, Eric Smith of the Chargers' official site reports.

The rookie linebacker out of Michigan was placed on Los Angeles' active/non-football illness list one week ago, and the timetable for his return is currently unknown. Once Colson recovers from his appendectomy, he's expected to serve as one of the Chargers' top inside linebackers.

  • Chargers' Junior Colson: Starting camp on NFI list

The Chargers placed Colston on the active/non-football illness list Wednesday with an unspecified injury, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

The Chargers haven't offered up a timeline for Colson's return to the field, but he can come off the NFI list at any time during training camp, once cleared to practice. The rookie third-round pick out of Michigan appears in prime position to compete for a starting role at linebacker, assuming he's not sidelined too long.

  • Chargers' Junior Colson: Links up with college coach in LA

The Chargers selected Colson in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 69th overall.

The Michigan linebacker reunites with his college coach, Jim Harbaugh, at the NFL level. There were strong arguments for Colson as the best off-ball linebacker in this class thanks to his strong tackling ability and sideline-to-sideline speed. Colson accrued 196 tackles over his final two seasons in Ann Arbor and checks in as one of the bigger middle linebackers in this draft at 6-foot-2 and 238 pounds. He is tenacious and was tasked with making the on-field adjustments for an elite Michigan defense. Look for Colson to make an immediate impact in the middle of the Chargers defense.
