Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Reverts to practice squad
Edwards-Helaire reverted to the Chiefs' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Edwards-Helaire was elevated to the active roster to operate as a third option at running back behind Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith in Sunday's 23-20 overtime win against the Colts. Edwards-Helaire logged 17 snaps on offense, compiling eight yards on five carries while catching both of his targets for nine yards. He finished third at his position in offensive snaps behind Hunt (68) and Smith (18), while Isiah Pacheco (knee) and Elijah Mitchell (coach's decision) were unavailable. Pacheco was estimated to be a full participant at the team's walkthrough Monday, so he may be set to make his return to action following a three-game absence. If Pacheco can't go Thursday against the Cowboys, there's a good chance that Edwards-Helaire would garner another elevation in Week 13.

The Chiefs elevated Edwards-Helaire from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday, Nick Jacobs of KSHB 41 in Kansas City reports.
Edwards-Helaire will offer added depth to the running back position, as starter Isiah Pacheco (knee) is out for Week 12 against the Colts. The 2020 first-round pick will likely be active behind Kareem Hunt, Elijah Mitchell and Brashard Smith.

Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Placed back on practice squad
The Chiefs reverted Edwards-Helaire to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.
Edwards-Helaire saw his first action of the season Sunday against Buffalo and logged two offensive snaps, carrying twice for five yards in the second quarter. That made him a distant third in Kansas City's running back pecking order behind Kareem Hunt (47 offensive snaps) and Brashard Smith (12). The team's No. 1 tailback, Isiah Pacheco (knee), was unable to suit up Sunday, and with Pacheco expected to return in Week 11 following the team's Week 10 bye, Edwards-Helaire may have to wait a while before being elevated again.

Chiefs' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Joins active roster
The Chiefs elevated Edwards-Helaire to their active roster Saturday.
The 2020 first-round pick from LSU provides Kansas City with needed depth at running back, as Isiah Pacheco (knee) will be sidelined in the Week 9 matchup against the Bills. Now with the active roster, Edwards-Helaire is likely to play a depth role in the Chiefs' backfield Sunday.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Practice squad reunion with Chiefs
Kansas City signed Edwards-Helaire to the practice squad Wednesday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.

Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Released by New Orleans
The Saints released Edwards-Helaire on Tuesday, Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football reports.
Edwards-Helaire played just 33 offensive snaps during the preseason and managed to rush 10 times for just 22 yards. He also caught all three of his targets for 25 yards. It wasn't nearly enough to win a job behind Alvin Kamara, Kendre Miller and rookie Devin Neal.

Saints' Clyde Edwards-Helaire: Sees action in second half Sunday
Edwards-Helaire logged four carries for six yards and caught his lone target for nine yards during Sunday's 27-13 preseason loss to the Chargers.
Edwards-Helaire logged all four of his carries in the third quarter. He didn't get a chance to tote the rock until after Kendre Miller, Velus Jones and Cam Akers all logged rushing attempts in the first half. New Orleans was also without sixth-round rookie Devin Neal (hamstring) on Sunday. Once Neal is healthy, Edwards-Helaire will likely be left on the outside looking in at the depth chart. His next chance to play this preseason will come Sunday, Aug. 17 against Jacksonville.
