Harris dealt with an unspecified injury last month but is fine for Sunday's season opener against the Cardinals. Harris will end up not playing a single preseason game, missing the last two while working through an undisclosed injury. Harris (undisclosed) will participate in Saturday's training camp practice, Alex Insdorf of BoltBeat.com reports.
Harris was held out of Thursday's preseason game against the 49ers due to an unspecified injury. It doesn't appear to be a severe issue, as he'll be back on the field for Saturday's practice, putting him on track to play in the Chargers' preseason finale against the Rams on Thursday. Chargers' Tre' Harris: Should practice this weekend
Harris (undisclosed) didn't play in Thursday's preseason game against San Francisco, but coach Jim Harbaugh said afterward that the wideout should practice this weekend, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
It sounds like Harris is dealing with a minor injury. Quentin Johnston (lower body) also missed Thursday's exhibition, leaving rookie Brenen Thompson to fill in as a starter opposite Ladd McConkey. Come Week 1, it'll likely be McConkey, Johnston and Harris as the top three.

Chargers' Tre' Harris: Looking at expanded role in 2026
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said Wednesday that Harris is "clearly" part of the team's top three wide receivers alongside Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston at OTAs, Kris Rhim of ESPN.com reports.
With Keenan Allen still unsigned and looking like a poor fit for new OC Mike McDaniel's speed-based offense, Harris appears ticketed for a bigger offensive role in his second season. Harris appeared in all 17 regular-season games as a rookie, making 10 starts, but he logged just 49 percent of the offensive snaps and turned 43 targets into a 30-324-1 receiving line. Allen played 55 percent of the Chargers' offensive snaps but paced the team with 122 targets and 81 catches. Harris will need to fend off fourth-round rookie Brenen Thompson, but Harris certainly has a chance to see significantly more playing time and pass volume in 2026.

Chargers' Tre' Harris: Receiver room competition
Harris could have competition for his spot on the depth chart after the Chargers selected Brenen Thompson with the 105th overall pick during the 2026 NFL Draft.
New offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel reportedly had significant interest in Thompson because of his blazing 4.26 40-yard dash, reminiscent of the wide receiver archetype he valued as a head coach in Miami. It's hard to tell if the Chargers will have designated plays for Thompson, or if they will continue to feature Harris, the 2025 second-round pick who made his bones at the collegiate level as a RPO specialist. Harris' rookie year was relatively mundane (30-324-1) despite playing all 17 regular-season games, but with Keenan Allen potentially on his way out, there overall could be more opportunities available in Los Angeles in what figures to be a more pass-happy scheme.

Chargers' Tre' Harris: Unable to rise crowded corps
Harris caught two of his three targets for 20 yards in the 16-3 wild-card loss to the Patriots on Sunday.
Harris played a season-high 97 percent of the offensive snaps in Week 18 with the Chargers resting the majority of their starters, but he was predictably more of a reserve option in the team's only postseason contest. The 2025 second-round pick was expected to be a key piece of the team's passing attack, but the offseason return of Keenan Allen and emergence of 2023 first-round pick Quentin Johnston pushed Harris further down a crowded pass-catching group. Allen will enter unrestricted free agency in March, and at 33 years old, it's possible the team may opt not to bring him back even if Allen even chooses to return for his 14th NFL campaign. Harris would stand to benefit in that situation, but an injury-ravaged offensive line will need to rebuilt come 2026 in order for the Ole Miss product to be reliably featured in the offense next season.
