  The season-ending elbow surgery that Miley underwent May 7 in Cincinnati was a hybrid procedure designed to accelerate the left-hander's recovery timeline compared to the typical Tommy John surgery, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Miley's surgery was overseen by Dr. Timothy Kremchek, who previously performed the same hybrid procedure on the veteran southpaw's former teammate, Justin Wilson, in 2022. Kremchek relayed that he was "super happy" with how Miley's UCL procedure went, creating optimism that the 37-year-old could make a full recovery in as few as 10-to-12 months, well ahead of the 12-to-18-month recovery timeline that Tommy John surgery typically entails. The elbow surgery was the first of Miley's career, though he acknowledged that the ligament damage in his pitching arm had been bothering him for years. Though Miley is hopeful to resume throwing bullpen sessions and facing hitters by next spring before making his 2025 debut at some point in late April or early May, it's unclear if he'll be doing so in a Brewers uniform. His contract contains a $12 million mutual option and $1.5 million buyout for 2025.

With Miley scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery May 7 and miss the remainder of the season, his move to the 60-day IL is simply procedural. His spot on the 40-man roster will be given to Tyler Black, who was selected from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

  Miley (elbow) is scheduled to undergo Tommy John surgery May 7 in Cincinnati, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. The Brewers first relayed Friday that Miley would require the season-ending surgery after an MRI revealed a torn UCL in his left arm, but the 37-year-old looks set to wait for the inflammation in his elbow to subside over the next two weeks before he goes under the knife. His contract with the Brewers contains a $12 million mutual option for 2025, so expect Milwaukee to decline its side of the option this offseason with the likelihood that Miley's recovery will extend into at least the first few months of next season.

  Miley was diagnosed with a torn UCL in his left elbow Friday and will undergo Tommy John surgery, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The 37-year-old landed on the shelf with elbow swelling early in the week and had his initial MRI results come back inconclusive, but an in-person arthrogram revealed the worst-case scenario. It's a brutal development for the Brewers' rotation and for Miley individually. At this point, he says he plans to continue his career after recovering from the procedure, McCalvy reports. "I've always said I want to go out on my own [terms]," Miley said Friday. "I still feel like I've got more in the tank."

  The Brewers placed Miley on the 15-day injured list Monday with left elbow inflammation. Miley got a late start to this season because of a shoulder problem, and he missed time last season with elbow and lat issues. The veteran left-hander has often shown an ability to bounce back quickly from arm-related injuries, but he indicated Monday that this is a different feeling than he's had in the past, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Miley will undergo imaging Tuesday, at which point more should be known regarding how much time he might miss. Tobias Myers was called up from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move and seems likely to start in Miley's place Tuesday in Pittsburgh.
